Stress Control/Relaxation Techniques

Is anyone using any of the varieties of stress reducing/controlling methods such as meditation, mindfulness , binaural beats and self-hypnosis that are prolific on Youtube and elsewhere on the internet?

I have used the following to some good effect most if not all of which requires headphones -

I would be interested to learn if anyone with cancer has found some modality or method they use to alleviate, deal with or control stress.

Re: Stress Control/Relaxation Techniques

I haven't tried these but they might be good for my Mum, thanks for sharing them!

I know she tries to do simple yoga when she can and even a simple walk with some of her favourite music is a great way for her to destress.

Re: Stress Control/Relaxation Techniques

Hi @Elephant

I sincerely hope  any one or a few do help your Mum.

May I suggest you look into guided Mindfulness tools and refer them to your Mum.

Essentially mindfullness is a meditation tool to manage stress by enouraging meditation and bring focus of the participant to the present moment as we can only live in the present - not the past nor the future.

Here is a couple of other links to aid a beginner in mindful meditation -

You're most welcome. I think it helps your mood if you stick at it and do one of meditation guides that appeals to you daily

I use the insight timer app for meditation and support, I find I have to do this daily or more to reduce anxiety and stress,  I also use mindfulness walking as another great way to destress.
