Re: Living alone with Cancer and Depression
Hi @Richard56 ,
I'm so sorry I haven't responded, no internet here, but back to normal now.
Your operation sounds INTENSE ! you poor guy, it's sounds incredibly painful.
The things you do when your young, you never think then what future results will be. Who would've guessed what damage the sun can do.
Anyway, the worst is over and will just improve from now on I hope, you are very strong to be able to go off for such long walks AND use weights after that, wow.
Anyway, so the dressings were removed yesterday? How'd it go? Hope it's made things a little easier, although it'll take quite a while to heal I guess.
I'm going ok, just the same old fighting off my fogginess and tiredness.
One day I'll be back to normal.
We all will.❣️
Take care,
Cindi xo

Hi @RobN ,
I'm so sorry to hear about your cancer.
What are you doing? are you on treatment?
Don't feel isolated, please reach out here, the lovely people here are all fighting cancers, or living with cancer.
Sending you a big hug,
Cindi xx

Re: Living alone with Cancer and Depression
Hi Cindi,
Glad you're ok and pushing through regardles, that's my motto now, just don't stop, push on ahead no matter what and I do.
I saw the oncologist this morning, the next round of treatment starts on the 24th, a bit over a weeks time, 3 treatments over 3 weeks, then a break until mid June, he warned me that these 3 treatments will be intense and may put me out of action for a bit, no matter, just have to wait n see but i wont stop my training.
My face looks quite nasty since the plastic surgery, I have to leave it undressed now and I'll see the surgeon next week, I'll send you a couple of pics via messaging.
Now having a colonoscopy and gasoscopy in April 24th, Dr has some concerns, " Bring it on i say" haha.
Take care and I hope the tiredness goes soon.
Lots of hugs,
Richard xxx

Re: Living alone with Cancer and Depression
Thank you Cindi54! We grew up with both dogs and cats. I still dream of getting a cat again, one day. My name here is actually my Siamese cat’s name. She was reacted by the other cats at my parents house so became my cat. Loved her to bits! She passed some years ago. I love the thought of you going down to the dog park. We have several people join us too who would love a dog but for various reasons haven’t got one! The joy the dogs in their play time is just brilliant ❤️🩹 Wiahing you all the best.

Re: Living alone with Cancer and Depression
Hi Rob,
Thanks for reaching out, here we are all affected by cancer to different degrees and the location of the cancer, and we are here to support you via this forum. I am so glad your GP has prescribed meds to help with your depression, I am so sorry that you are isolated too, does that mean you live at a remote location ?.
What has helped me was trying to keep fit no matter what, for you that could mean simple exercises at home due to your seizures, keeping your mind active by perhaps reading books etc.
So what is your next step after your diagnosis, what treatment has been offered ? What has your specialist surgeon suggested ?
Sending you positive thoughts
Cheers, Richard

Re: Living alone with Cancer and Depression
Hi @Richard56
You have a great attitude and certainly pushing yourself, be careful not to overdo it, your mind may be telling you one thing but your body another and your doctors usually will tell you this , as your body will find it much harder to recover if it is simply worn out and treatments can do that.
you certainly have a lot to cope with in next few months and fitness is your coping mechanism so take it easy and look after your whole self
big hugs Jennifer xx

Re: Living alone with Cancer and Depression
Hi Cindi, Thank you so much for your wishes and thinking about me today, it was an early start this morning, today I was treated with a new type of BCG, the nurse said, with this new type it cuts the treatment time in half, to just over 1 hour, the time went quickly . The Oncologist came in and saw me half way through and again said to be prepared for burning sensation and pain as early as directly after the treatment, I've been home 3hrs and he was right, I've had at least 10 wee's or more, each time it really hurts (burns) and my bladder is now getting sore, I'm drinking plenty also with Ural, so it's entirely different this time around as he did say, that's ok, I'll be fine and it's only for 3 weeks, we'll see if it makes me really tired as well.
My nose is healing up really good and the stitches are out now too, I just have to keep the area moist with Vaseline.
How have you been and how are you feeling ?
I think about you too.
😘xx

Re: Living alone with Cancer and Depression
Hi @Richard56 ,
I'm sorry you're suffering now, I had a feeling you would, but it mean's its "doing it's thing", try to think that when it gets bad.
It'll all be worth it in the end, you've got to beat this.
That's good you're healing well after your skin cancer op.
You're really going through a lot, but stay focused on the end goal, you'll get there.
Hugs from Cindi xxoo
