Re: Recent diagnosis tonsil cancer

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis.

There are a number of people on here who have had a tonsil cancer diagnosis. Hopefully someone will be along soon who can offer some advise for you.

Why don't you start off and tell us a little about yourself.

When were you diagnosed? Are you having an difficulties?

How are you feeling?

Do you have any surgery or treatment scheduled, or is that something that is still being discussed?

Re: Recent diagnosis tonsil cancer

Hi Freddy, I have may have the very same diagnosis coming to me very soon and just wanted to touch base with you. I’ve had a CT scan and will be having a PET scan ENT specialist appointment in two days. I hope everything is going well for you.

Re: Recent diagnosis tonsil cancer

I have just had my left tonsil removed and recovered . That was the primary site and have secondary lymph node from it to sort out still. I start chemoradiation in 2 weeks. My cancer is a HPV16+ cancer.  Its nerve racking but prognosis is good from here.  I will update in here as I start treatment but they have said it will 7 weeks of radio 5 days a week. Chemo will be once every 21 days if I handle it. Im 44 years old.

Re: Recent diagnosis tonsil cancer

Gday Steve, thanks for sharing your experience. I wish nothing the best for you and what you are about to go through.
I just got out of hospital today after the removal of both tonsils. The Dr  mentioned he was able to remove all the suspicious growth in the right and mentioned that nothing was identified in my left. In my consultation prior to surgery he has reason to believe that it’s either a lymphoma or HPV. He seemed confident when he said they were both curable.
Early next week I should know the exact result of what it is and what treatment is in store for me. I am also 44. Please stay in contact if you wish and let me know how you go as you through your treatment as I may have questions or just be here for support for you. All the best mate.
