I think your brother has a level of expectation that won’t be met in the short term although I’m only two weeks in with my tonsil cancer I have had radiation  previously for prostate cancer post operatively and it took me a year to get back to some sort of normal with head and neck cancer it is even tougher but it responds well to radiation so he should have a good chance of full recovery I’m going through it right now and it is not pleasant that’s for sure  I’m expecting that  it will get worse until at least two weeks after the treatment has ended  from their - I expect it will slowly improve  from there but you get no guarantees in life and we all have to just hang in there - Bottom line I wouldn’t be dead for quids and I’m going fight as best I can to try to wring some extra life out of the old horse - wish your brother well from  me and tell him to hang tough he obviously has people around him that love him and don’t want him going anywhere just yet  all the best Freddy ...
