Oh! Waiting rooms really bring it flooding into your personal space and the stark awful reality hits you very hard. Waiting rooms are also filled with 'CANCER' information so it's pretty darn hard to escape from it. Do whatever you can to fight it Tina,breath work and meditation calms my husband down in the waiting room,he goes to a cancer free place in his mind even though it's only for a little while. We try and have some cancer free thinking time during the day but it is not easy.. I asked my husband what he wanted and he asked to see a spiritual person who does meditations,vizualisations etc without the religeous factor. He strongly believes in mother nature and the cycle of life so I and our family/friends are using this to help him have peace on his stage 4 lung cancer journey. I have had 'dumping' from other people regarding the religion side and I have been firm with them that this is my husbands belief and to respect him for it. I am so thankful that his medical oncologist is a compassionate person besides being a specialist oncologist he has promised my husband he will be with him and help him on his journey. I know what you mean,abbreviations such as MDT or MRI or Mets etc conjured up terrifying fear for my husband and I until we asked what they meant in plain english. We don't hesitate to ask what they mean now so good for you because it sure takes the worry factor out of the equation. It sure is an awful shock to hear that the cancer has spread after such a long time.It must be so hard to inform the rest of the family,it's a real kick in the heart. All you can do is the best you can and know that you are not alone during these tough times,none of us are superhuman. Your stepson sounds like he needs special time and care,it's an awful experience for him to have to deal with all this.Has he got any friends to talk to? if not you may need to seek professional help to help him come to terms with both his mother and gran's cancers. Thank you for your post,it sums me up very well indeed.. Having our lives change so suddenly and our plans with it brings up every emotion known to mankind. I have just started showing photos of past holidays that I burnt onto cd's so my husband can sit in his comfy chair and see them on the TV.That brings up heaps of memories and fun.
