Hello all I'm Emily.
In February 2009 when I was 17 years old, I was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor (rhabdomyosarcoma) which was cancerous. I had to have chemotherapy for 1 year and also have radiation for 5 days per week for 6 weeks. I am now almost 22 years old and a survivor of cancer.
I live in Brisbane, Qld but am from the Sunshine Coast QLD. I live with my partner of 2 years.
I wonder, does anyone else (a survivor) still struggle with their energy levels after years of treatment like me ??.
I am currently not working but just doing university via distance.
I have had previous jobs since I finished treatment, and working 10 hours per week was just too much, I got exhausted. So I feel pretty useless at working, getting tired, exhausted so easily.
Would love to chat to anyone really? :-).

If you see you dietician at the hospital you receive your treatment at the dietician can give you some protein/energy drinks to try and then if you want to order some you can. They help you gain weight because they have a bit of fat in them and also alot of good viatmins and minerals. You can buy Ensure I think its called? Well its a protein powder that you can buy from most chemists, you can add it to milk shakes, it thickens it up and you can't even taste the difference! The dietician told me to eat things that I normally wouldn't eat all the time, like have a chocolate bar for a snack nearly every day, things that are high in fat and sugar will make you put on weight. Well that's what I did, since I lost a bit of weight while having radiation and it sure helps put the weight back on. Hope that helps xx

I'm Emily, I recently just turned 18 and only just recently finished all my chemo.
I know it's probably normal for people to feel alone when you have cancer, but since I got diagnosed all my friends and I mean ALL of them started drifting away from me. They couldn't even call me or come and see me to ask me how I was doing. Now I look back I'm guessing they weren't really good friends at all, but also they didn't know how to take the news. I really just wish that I could meet some good people.
