The primary was base of tongue with secondaries in the lymph nodes around the neck. He underwent a radical neck dissection 4 years ago today followed by chemo and radiation. It metastisised to the lungs 18 months ago and he underwent 6 rounds of chemo starting in January this year. He contracted pheumonia at Easter and the chemo was stopped. He was bery ill and we nearly lost him then.

Hi Silly - He has head and neck cancer which has spread to the lungs. He is under palliative care. I have all the support teams organised. We only found out last Thursday about the approximate time he has to live so we are still digesting everything and very frightened and emotional.

My husband has been battling head and neck cancer for the past 4 years which has metastisised to the lungs. His last CAT scan shows a huge increase in a tumor in the right lung and his prognosis is now down to months. I would like to talk to someone going through similar stuff and how to handle it all.

In July 2007 my husband was diagnosed with scc at the base of tongue and secondaries in the lymph system. He had a radical neck dissection followed by radiation and chemo and all that entails. On 14th December he had his 2 year post treatment check up wherein his oncologise ordered a CT scan. On New Years Eve we received the news that the enemy has metastised to both lungs and things aren't looking too great. He is a fighter and filling himself with juices and vegies, vitamins and nuts etc. The news was such a shock as he was gaining weight and looking fantastic. He is scheduled for a full body scan on 19th January and meeting with oncologists on 21st January wherein our lives will once again be controlled by others so we are making the most of this week. This site helps me unload and also gives me inspiration from everyone else. It is nice to know you can come here and bare all if necessary and get positiveness.

I also need to add that my sister's partner is also terminal with motor neuron disease. Her and I have shared many tears. We were always close but this will bind us so very tightly forever and ever.

Hello - I have just joined as we are about to start another merry-go-round with this dreaded disease and I know I will find this site very useful and supportive as the carer. My husband was diagnosed with Head and Neck cancer in July 2007, had a radical neck dissection followed by chemo and radiation. At his last check-up the oncologist thought a CAT scan would be in order as he was now 2 years post treatment. He looks great and gained most of his weight back and there was no hint that the monster had raised its ugly head again. It was shock and dismay when we learnt the results of the CAT scan wherein the monster had metastised in both lungs. We are now waiting for a full body scan on 19th January followed by oncologist appointments on 21st January. So here we go again!!! He is filling himself with blueberry juice, wolfberry juice, purple carrot juice, garlic, vitamins etc etc etc. We figure we will do what we can to fight this miserable creature.
