Hi Epanting, I understand kidneys failing with cancer, my dad passed due to kidney failure from leukemia . Now is the time to be with your Mum, love her, massage her, cuddle her and speak of happy memories and laugh......create new memories, have a picnic in her room with the family....google internet to find out what special day it is in the world and recreate it in her room.....my mum bought a new dinner set and had Dad approve of it..before he passed..we still have it today. As for my Dad, it was a painless passing 16yrs ago and the doctors wanted to insert an IV which would have fasten his passing but Dad was defiant and didn't want any more needles.....he just wanted to be Dad....he passed peacefully with my Mum by his side. Hi Allicat, Yes I have put on 6kgs.......geez you explained that very well and I guess it's better to be "right in the mind" and heavier than slim and depressed.....however I believe it is transition from cancer and fear to enjoying life......Im looking forward to coming off them later in the year. Hi Mignon, My sister Susan has SLE and the link with cancer is mainly due to autoimmune suppressants, Im not sure which drugs though. However DNA predisposition does play another large part too. (Our Dad was builder/carpenter in 1960/70 and used all chemicals spraying timber which I believe altered his DNA, hence Lupus and Kidney Cancer, there is no link to either dis-ease in maternal and paternal ancestory). Australia has foundations in all states however America's John Hopkins Centre for Lupus is very well educated and written, this will give more of an insight into drugs....however my opinion only....with a compressed immune system which cant control inflammation, any damage to tissue will encourage the growth of damaged cells which we know as tumors (cancerous or benign). Thanks Silly, you are inspiring my dear. At least I know Im not alone when it comes to cancer, pain, weight, exercise. I too am filling the void with facebook and here at cc. Would reducing your pain meds make it more exhausting for you at the end of day battling pain? Im assuming you live in VIC, this is a shame, if you were in Brisbane I would be around to pick you up for a walk or swim, whatever your poison?
