It has been a while, but chemo is finished and we have been on our short holiday, getting back home this afternoon. It was great to get away. Since finishing chemo I started volunteering at work for a few weeks before going back to paid work. I needed to know that I could handle the work again. I can, but thought that I would be eased back into working, but no, I have been given one of the most full-on shifts there is. So far I have been able to manage it but on Saturday I am supposed to do 8hrs of work in 6hrs. That's hard for a fit and healthy person. Doesn't matter, I love it anyway. Next week I will be starting on my second hormone treatment. The first one, Femara, didn't agree with my heart, so lets hope that the new one will be good. The painful stiff fingers are no fun though, but I'm sure it wont be as bad as chemo. Hoping that everyone is doing well and managing whatever comes your way. ... View more

Hi all, Well l had my second chemo cycle yesterday and again all went well. 2 down and two to go. The past week l felt almost normal, apart from the hair l have started to lose. The cats and l seem to be in competition as to who can shed the most. I think l am ahead by a whisker. I found that during my first cycle the third day was my worst, I was hoping that someone would break into my home and shoot me dead, but by Monday I was glad they hadn't as I felt good. I have been amazed how different each day can be, and how quickly things can change. The first week was fairly blah but not really bad. By the second week I was even starting to feel normal. Has anyone else been fortunate enough to feel the same way. I sure hope so for your sake. Now I am at the 2 chemo down and 2 to go. How is everyone else going. I know that I am very fortunate that I only have 1 round of chemo to get through and not everyone is that lucky. Hi, I too was glad to find this place. If people from your church are willing to help in any way, just let them. Our church have also said the same thing and a number of people have visited to see what I needed. So far, just their company has been a blessing. Through prayer I am able to deal with the good days and the not so good days. As someone else said, the hospital should be able to give you information on services that could benefit you and your mother in law. If possible don't let the rest of the family stick you with all of the work. It is too much for one person with their own immediate family to look after. I also know that is easier said than done. We can post comments any time that suits us.(even in our jammies) We don't have to make a time or place to meet we just sit at our computers and type away.
