Hi there, Thank you for all your kind words for the passing of Gary, we had the funeral yesterday and it was such a beautifull day both the service and the wake afterwards, the town I live in really took care of all the wake, we didn't have to do a thing and the support was amazing, Gary & I are truely blessed to be in this community. I still have all family here, they go home tomorrow except for 1 sister, but I suppose when I am alone and have time to reflex on my next journey by myself it will be the tester, but I am sure it will be fine. Hi Sandra, Gary has seizures and has done all along, we are in palitive care now, he will be gone in a day or so, they are increasing his morphine again as he has a seizure every time they turn him, not nice for him, me or the kids, hopefully it ends tomorrow for him. Hugs Llorraine. ... View more

Hi Hammy, things are not going so well, he has started to sleep more and a few accidents with wetting the bed etc, Carolien has been a great assets to get advice from, she is such a strong person to help others. They think the cancer has spread through his body, I think it is the back tumor near the spine and he has black motions, found out it is old blood, maybe a ulcer in the stomach, I have a nurse come around to check on him and our doctor will be home from holidays tomorrow, I am starting to panic inside about things, but will stay strong for him, how things have changed in one week. Hi Dazza, We too have been in this situation, my husband has 4 brain tumors, found out in Feb, we told the doctor that we planned to go to qld, in late april, was advised to bring it forward, but Gary was so determined to stay to the plan, and against all odds, we made it and had a great holiday, he didn't quite get home as planned, but we did after 4 days in brisbane hospital, but it still would of happened if we were home, and we would have missed the 2 weeks of fun and family.he is still going ok 4 weeks later but of course we have started the downhill run, what can you do, I also feel shitty and angry but I do discuss everything with him, even this site, my kids are older, we started our family very young, I am so glad now, but know how you feel as I see the look in the grandkids eyes that their poppa wont be around much longer, so discuss it with her and let her decide because at the end of the day, it will be her choice, take care and be strong, Rain. ... HI, I was in the same boat a few years ago with my dad, he was having his knees replaced and died on the operating table, he had a stroke and they brought him back but was in a coma, I waited 2 days and I just felt he was waiting for me, so we drove 2.5 hours and caught a plane from wa to qld, I was in intensive care with him, and I stroke his head and said Dad I am here now, and a tear ran down from the side of his eye, when he finally came out of the coma a few days later, I said "dad do you remember me talking to you" and he said "how could I forget a face that launched a thousand ships", I will never forget that, he is still alive but not for long, bloody asbestos and bowel cancer, but I will always remember that day,so you will know inside what you need to do, take care. ... Hi All, I am surprised you have to pay, we have had everything bulk billed, operation, radiation chemo, all scans, and were going to be accepted on the free trial, the only thing we have paid for are our scripts. The system is strange, you should have come on a boat and the gov would have given you everything, sounds nasty but hey, you pay taxes all your life and when you need the gov to come through, they are too busy being arse holes to each other. My husband is slowly dying mentally, he is forgetting simple things, not knowing who he is talking to or what they are saying, the last two weeks have been painfull watching him start to slowly go, you think you have all this time to get prepared but you don't, it doesn't make sense that I don't think he even knows what is happening, I suppose the 4 tumors are slowing growing and blocking things, I wish I could make it faster, for him, he looks so confused, and blank, but that is the real cruel thing about this, the waiting, sorry just having a bad week, stay strong, and hope for the best. ... Hi Peanutz, sorry to hear about your partner, I try not to be negitive to people but everyone seems to get told that the first scan after their operation maybe something from radiation treatment only to find out on the next MRI it was a tumor, and have your hopes dashed, wish they would be honest with people. There is a positive in all this, you get to send time with him, there are laughs as well, I keep everything simple, he can cope with simple conversations and daily things, otherwise they get confused and annoyed and it is not worth the hassle to either of you, as we have done all our paperwork, wills tranfer of car, boat, funeral, the pressure is off on both of us, we didn't do this till we found out about the 4 tumors, then Gary said to me, we better do this paperwork. He is good, just made me a cuppa and watching a movie, so 4 months after finding out about the multi tumors and no meds except the Keppa ( seizure med) & Dex, he is doing really good.
