Cheri, Head and neck cancer treatment is not for the weak. It's tough. It sounds like you have a lot of stuff going on. I honestly believe that the sickness was from the dope that I was taking. I had a fenenal patch, and I also took oxy's. I had a G-tube that I got my nutrition from. I had it for about 4 months. Putting food into my mouth was a disgusting thought. I wish that I had words of wisdom to help you get through, but my answer was the G-tube. It saved my life. I don't know if I could have done what you are doing. I assume that the boost and ensures are aweful for you. If you've made it this far, there is no doubt in my mind that you will continue to persevere. Keep in mind that the survivability rate for head and neck cancer patients is very high. You can do this. I agree that the doctors are little to no help. That's why they practice medicine. They don't know what they are doing, so they just keep practicing. LOL I wish that I were of more help to you. Please keep me informed as to your continued recovery.

I had stage 1 tonsil cancer in May of 2018. I didn't have surgery, but I did have the 3 chemo/ 35 radiation standard plan that they give. My side effects are nothing like yours. I am 147 days past radiation. My dry mouth is getting better. My taste has returned for the most part. Some things still don't taste right. I do have constant ringing in my ears, and I am now experiencing neck pain and stiffness.

Hang in there. It's a tough process. It's not easy by any means. The doctors all say, " it takes time". They are right, but they never define time. It takes months. I am 147 days past radiation, I still have some side effects and I am now experiencing late effects. Keep fighting!

I'm 53. I had tonsil cancer. Left one to be exact. After the scans, they found it in a few of my nech lymphnodes. Needless to say, I was horrified. I did exactly what the docs said to do and hoped for the best. As of today I am 147 days removed from my last treatment. (The side effects are not worth mentioning to this crowd. We all know.) My G-Tube was taken out back in October. Eating was a struggle, mouth sores were horrible, but I was done with the tube. Hell or high water, I was going to survive without the tube. After a certain point, I just developed an attitued of "Go F#@K yourself cancer". I just felt done with the tube, the drugs, and the entire situation. Thankfully I have a very supportive family and a great network of friends Good luck to all who are stricken with this horrible disease.

I am 53 years old. I was diagnosed with tonsil cancer last May 2018. I don't want to bore everyone with my story, but I am willing to listen to yours and compare notes. Feel free to contact me. We all seem to now live in a community of friends that have the common ground of cancer of some sort. Regardless of it's place or stage, all cancer sucks and is no joke. Once again, I'm willing to talk, chat or all of the above. Mark Mustard
