Husband is 12 months GBM4

My husband has GBM4 and is doing really well has done Rado and Cemo now on trail with Cilengatide 2 days a week no side affects. Had first scan after op, rado and cemo on 6 Dec 2010 no change on scans so far next scan will be on 16 Aug 2011 3 days after first Diagnosis on 13 Aug 2010. I get a bit scard of what is to come as he is doing so well

Dear Anne Marie I know exactly how you feel. My husband also has GBM 10 months in. Have done radio and chemo 42 days and 6 follow up cycles. Started avastin in febuary. MRI in june showed stable tumour. Have been told that the big hope is that it now stays stable for next 12 months as that means it could stay stable for a long time but their is only a 5% chance of that. It is such a rollercoaster ride. I am finding the only way to stay sane is to stay in the today bubble because the mind swings between despair and real hope all the time. Hugs Terese.

Hi Anne-marie - its' ok to be scared - we all are. My husband too has a GBM 4, diagnosed April 2010. As easy as it sounds, try and take each day as it comes and take control of the things you are able to do. I have found this forum really supportive and made some good friends - its a great place to vent and share exactly what is on your mind (no doubt many of us as partners are feeling exactly the same things as you are and it does help to voice them believe me) Remember to look after yourself too. To Ann-Marie,exhausted and Smiley, I googled GBM as I did not know what it was . It is good that you have found each other here .It looks like a cruel cancer that your husbands have.

wow, I'm so happy to have found this site. Its a daunting position to be in as the wife & mother of three young ones. One lives each day in hope. But the initial diagnosis does play with your mind. I'm trying to be strong we dont really discuss the future. He's pretty scared too but doesnt talk about it. Best wishes. xx

HI Everyone Thank you for your posts they help alot I think I spoke to soon on Saturday the 16 Jul 11 my husband had his first fit and that was really alfull lasted about 20mins and took 3 1/2 hours for him to come all the way back to knowing where he was and what had happened. Drs not sure if it is the brain tumor or not have to wait for the MRI in August

HI everyone MIR on the 1 NOv 2011 still no change and Geoff has gone back to work one day a week. Looking forward to the 9 Feb 2012 as we booked a cruise to the Pacific Islands for 10 days. All the best Anne Marie. My partner was diagnosed in early August this year and had operation on 8/8. His first MRI after radio and chemo didn't look good but the doctor said it could be the effect from the radio. Fingers cross.
