I have just found out that the doctors have given my Father 3mths to remain in this world! I cannot process this, how does he sleep, how does he do anything menial? I cannot help but think about how he is feeling. I don't know what to do, I want to help him but I don't know how. I want to sit at my Dads side and tell him that we will fix this, but I can't. I want to yell at the doctors and tell them they are idiots and cruel! I want to make them do something! I don't know what to do except cry.

The only thing you can do is be there for him,do not think about measure of time, doctors can be wrong especially when trying to give timeframes. I personally do not want to know how long I have because I believe the brain is very powerful and can make it happen when the doctors said it would. At the end of the day, it is up to your dad how long he can or wants to fight, So spend as much time with him. Do activities that you both enjoy and won't be too hard for him. Talk a lot, give him the opportunity to tell you how he feels if he needs to. Help him sort his affairs out, my mother and I spent a bit of time doing that, she made envelopes with things she wanted to give family, she also told me a lot of our family history which I now have for safe keeping. It is a very precious time you are entering so make sure you spend as much of it as you can with your dad. My thoughts are with you. S

Hi I'm sorry to hear about your father's prognosis. My mother was diagnosed in September 09 with T Cell lymphoma and we were given approximately 2 months. I was devastated, losing my father only 15 months earlier with mesothelioma (asbestosis) cancer caused thru his workplace and my husband, Tony, (47) has incurable bowel cancer. Sadly mum passed away on 03/01/10, 1 day after my 46th birthday. All I can say is be there as much as you can, make every second count, do the things that you've wanted to do with him while he is still well enough to do them and just enjoy every precious moment you have left. I will be thinking of you and your family. take care. Linda xxx
