im so nervous its my boyfriends operation finally to remove his tumor from his bowel on monday.. he'l be in hospital for apporx ten days they said.. then after that two weeks after he'l have his lungs operated on and liver to remove spots and nodules.. its been nearly a year now since he's been diagnosed and i just cant believe its come around this quick! im nervous and excited, feeling a lot of emotions all at once! has anyone had bowel resectioning before?? they said he should be right because he's young and will recover quickly..

Hi Maddie, I've had the surgery and I was 50 at the time. If he has come through chemo, he will handle the surgery. If he is having it done laproscopically (keyhole) his recovery will be even faster than opening all the way up. He has a lot of surgery to contend with in the next few weeks/months and I'm sure that with the support that you've shown him, he should recover very quickly. Good luck for Monday! Samex

my boyfriend has his surgery but we were told just now that his colostomy bag is permanant.. im angry at the docs for giving him hope and telling him they could definatly reverse the operation.. we didnt tell him tonight because he was just recovering but im so scared as tommorw morning the docs will tell him.. i just keep thinking how much can someone take? its not fair! he's so young only 23! i spose i have to look on the bright side of things and reaLise he still is alive and the cancer from his bowel has gone but he still has to have his lungs and liver done.. (they're burning the spots off).. i just want it all to be over!!!!!!! thats my rant im so nervous about how he will react tommorw... 😞

Hi Maddie, That will be hard news for your boyfriend, when he was expecting the colostomy bag to be only temporary. I hope you manage to keep his spirits up, as you said at least the cancer in his bowel has gone & he is still alive. Make sure he realises he is lucky in so many ways. Good Luck BJS

Bowel resectioning.....this is what my husband had done during his peritonectomy. He still has over 18 staples in his bowel, which when he gets thin seem to protrude through the skin on his stomach. He has no peritoneum which doesn't really help either. But I recommend that he takes it really easy, no heavy lifting, be really careful with what he eats and drinks as my husband has had terrible trouble with adhesions, partly because he is susceptible to them, but also because he went to hard too fast.....we think....Good luck!
