Life Expectancy Bowel Cancer

Hi All,

I know this is a really hard subject to talk about. We have had such differing opinions and I am aware that everybody's journey is different.

Stage 4 bowel cancer. Diagnosed 18months ago. We were given 3years but zi just read a story (wish offered so much hope!) of a stage 4 bowel cancer patients. First diagnosed 12 years ago (not sure what stage at the point) and still going strong! Not bed ridden!

They mentioned they have never lost their hair either.

Gives us so much hope!!! Does anyone else have a similar story??

Hello Renae,

Thank you very much for joining our community.

I am very sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

You are right to say that everybody's journey is different, for some is better than for many others.

It is good to know that people out there are doing better than expected giving others so much needed hope.

I would like to encourage other community members to share their stories with you.

Best wishes

Re: Life Expectancy Bowel Cancer

Hi Renae.

My experience, about 4 months ago diagnosed with bowel cancer. Had surgery, all cancer removed, half way through my chemo. Went back to work about 6 weeks after surgery, way to early but I did the bloke thing and ignored the pain. I can’t comment on long term life with bc, the doc gave me months if I didn’t have the surgery, now they give me 5 years. Still have all my hair and growing a beard.

Staying positive, eating drinking healthy and living just one day at a time is my new way. It’s not easy, their are more down days than ups but I refuse to let bc break me.

Don’t let it break you soldier, stay STRONG 💪
