Just diagnosed with Breast cancer

I am new to this too. First time poster.

Got diagnosed with 2 different cancers. My left is a hormonal cancer but my right it has spread to my lymph nod. Caught early, they are small so they tell me.  I am scared so scared of my outcome.  I see my surgeon on the 1st July , 11 days before my 57th birthday. Hey happy birthday to me.

Sorry that I repeat my self but I am petrified.

No family history so I guess cancer never discriminate.

I pray for all those going through any cancer the strength to fight this horrible disease. 🙏

Re: Just diagnosed with Breast cancer

You are going to feel all the emotions. The beginning of this journey sucks, but it’s not the end. Once you make it to the other side you will be so much stronger. Focus on that light at the end of this train ride. Set yourself a goal, Maybe a holiday, new cloths to wear whatever you like, some think to look forward to.

Its okay to be scared, just don’t let it be the new you.

Re: Just diagnosed with Breast cancer

Hello @Di57 ,

I only just saw your post, I'm very sorry for your situation.

What did your specialist say?

I had breast cancer 2 years ago, it was the hormonal kind "Lobula" . in both breasts.

I had Lumpectomies done then my specialist decided I need a double mastectomy.

I was lucky it hadn't reached my lymph nodes, but I do know women who had it in their lymph nodes and were alright after treatment, so please don't give up hope.

I am ok now, in fact I got over my surgeries quite quickly, but will be on hormone suppressant medication for another 8 years I think, but it's not too bad really.

Please let us know what your specialist has in mind for your treatment?

Hoping for the best,

Cindi x

Re: Just diagnosed with Breast cancer

Hi Cindy

Saw my Oncologist today.

So my left breast is a hormonal cancer very small but my right one is TNBC(triple negative breast cancer) it's about 5cm and it has spread to my lymph node. It's all caught early  which is good I guess.   So 6 months chemo first and immunotherapy. Surgery in a month.  I guess they want to shrink the right breast cancer.

I have my pet scan Friday. Hopefully it's not spread anywhere else.

I have spoken with my cancer care nurse last week and I will again on Wednesday.

I think I am still in shock as I am struggling to feel anything, not angry , sad nor teary.  I will lose my hair, even the thought of that didn't make me react.

Re: Just diagnosed with Breast cancer

Hi

Not sure of my mind is trying to protect me from losing it at this recent diagnosis because it's not letting me feel anything at the moment.

Recommended Immunotherapy which I was not to happy about. Reading the possible side effects but the oncologist said that 90% of people don't get any symptoms.  I don't know.

Re: Just diagnosed with Breast cancer

Hi @Di57 ,

Yes it is a shock, it's hard to accept isn't it.

I remember when my biopsy was, it was my birthday so hard to forget.

I didn't know how to think about it all either.

Eventually you'll accept it all and you just need to put your trust in the nurses and doctors. They know what's best to help you beat the cancer.

Last year I did have to have chemo as I got another cancer ( bladder) not related to the breast cancer.

I found the chemo nurses absolutely lovely, they really put you at ease.

Also you should get assigned a nurse whom you can contact when you have any worries.

They are all so kind and helpful, just trust them and try to take one day at a time.

I didn't have immunotherapy? but I think if I was you, I'd just do whatever they suggest, remember they are the experts, and you want to get rid of the cancer.

Which state are you in?

Im sending you a big hug,

Cindi x

I'm in Sydney.

Re: Just diagnosed with Breast cancer

Hi Cindy

It's my birthday this Saturday 57years young.

I live in Victoria in a town called Warrnambool. Originally from Melbourne but we wanted a sea change, have been here for the last 5 years.

I have my Pet Scan Friday. It was bought forward from the 24th. I guess my Oncologist wants to get started as soon as possible.

I am starting to have some feeling of sadness but at the moment as the sadness sets in the feeling goes away. It comes in waves.

I have a Cancer Care Nurse called Bec that has made contact with me to answer any questions I have or my family.

Received your hug loud and clear and sending one back ten folds to you

Cheers

Keep smiling, Keep Positive and to hell with Cancer

Di

Re: Just diagnosed with Breast cancer

Hi Di,

That's great that you're getting your scan today, as the waiting can be so stressful.

Good luck with it all.

Happy birthday for tomorrow, hope you get spoiled.

You're still young enough to have the strength and will to fight hard !!

So glad you have a cancer nurse they are angels, don't be hesitant to call her whenever you want, they really can help put your mind at rest.

Hoping you'll be ok today, be strong, remember your motto:"keep smiling, Keep positive, and to hell with cancer"!😁

xx
