can you help me stop the panic?

Hi peoples It's been a while since I've been here. My husband was diagnosed 2 years ago now, and we've been lucky he's been in remission since then. But he seems to get sick a lot these days, and this time it isn't going away (or so it seems). I am beside myself with fear of relapse......it feels like I've learnt nothing from our previous experience. And as you probably know, us ladies are a lot less blase than our menfolk - they make it so easy to say "it's just the weather"!! I feel like I am sinking down into this all alone. Any wise words out there would be much appreciated!! Thanks

Hi Matsy, I get where you are coming from. Every time my daughter is unwell I struggle ( NHL). After 5 years you would think I could relax, but I cant. Maybe we never will?? Hard though. Take Care. Mignon

Get him to see the doctor, whether it's his gp or a specialist. I don't know the situation with his doctors or checkups. I can understand you worrying, particularly as you have a small child as well. I agree that men are less inclined to admit to sickness . Maybe tell him to go for your sake.

Re: can you help me stop the panic?

It would be a good idea to go and she your Dr. Good news about the 2 year remission. The on going sickness could be just a bad patch he is going through with general health at the moment or allergies. But it is better to catch on to it sooner rather than later.I know us carers are on edge looking out all the time for any changes happening in our loved ones health and general condition. My wife used to say that it was ok for her as she was in this place, it was more difficult for me as I was outside it, looking in and worrying. Good luck wombat4

Thanks alot It's great getting support from this site! We are in the process of getting test results (I should've said!), but I am pacing around until then. I just feel I never learned the lesson about "accepting uncertainty"!

Re: can you help me stop the panic?

Thanks so much for your good wishes. Every little bit helps! The test results were good, breathing a (big) sigh of relief. Is it true that his immunity will never be the same, that he can expect to be on antibiotics any time there's a lurking bug like this time? He's on his 2nd round to try & clear it. Wish I knew what was going on! Thanks again.
