Re: Nervously waiting for liver biopsy results

Hi @greg57 ,

Good on you for getting that done, it sounds like it wouldn't have been nice but it's done now and that's great!

Did they say what they intend for your treatment? or is it too soon yet? and please don't dread the chemo if you have to have it similar to mine as some people handle it fine.

The problem for me is just the Carboplatin chemo that affects me so badly as I can't seem to tolerate the steroids they give you to counteract the nausea, most people it doesn't bother but it has a bad affect on me and my tinnitus in my ears too, anyway, they may decide you can have a different type of chemo, don't worry till you discuss it with your specialist, when do you go back & see him?

Yes, they postponed my chemo today because of the infection in my kidney, so will wait till next week and have it then, after an appointment with my Oncologist.

Just gives me another week to do things, in fact I feel good today and I'm going to go to my gym 😊

Take care,

Cindi xx

Re: Nervously waiting for liver biopsy results

Hi Greg57

glad your procedure is over and all went well

hopefullg you will  know your treatment plan quickly and all starts well before you have too much time to think about it

I have a chronic sore knee at moment , and have put off my 9th surgery that was to take place on Wednesday to remove my tumours as best they can to see that I can take the Heated Mitomycin C chemo

as no point going ahead with a knee that I can barely walk with

Re: Nervously waiting for liver biopsy results

Hi Cindi, just an update, i think i mentioned i had my work up procedure done last week, well i was hoping to start my treatment this week but not to be. I have to go back in again on Thursday so they can do it all again on the other side of the liver. Its got me thinking that maybe they cant do the treatment on the bad side, so looking for other options. So, im not in a good head space today. How are you doing? I hope everything is good with you. Have you had your big day of chemo yet? Has your infection cleared up so you can go ahead? All the best ok,  lets keep our chins up. Greg

Re: Nervously waiting for liver biopsy results

Hi @greg57 ,

Sorry you got to go back again, but try not to speculate too much, we tend to over think these things and think the worst.Even if they ARE looking at other options, they are so advanced these days in all this that they will find a way to fix things for you. It's hard I know, I also find myself worrying about things but try not to. My big chemo and appointment with my Onc is tomorrow, Thursday, so I'll find out answers to my questions then ( I've written a list!) this is something you should do so you get your worries answered without forgetting. Not looking forward to chemo, but I'm trusting in my team to work out what's best for me. Yes my infection seems to have cleared well thank goodness, just got to drink 2 liters of water a day to keep my kidney flushed.

Lets face all this together, we can do it, we will BOTH beat the cancer '

let me know how you go, Cindi x😘

Re: Nervously waiting for liver biopsy results

Hi greg57

sorry to hear your procedure not going to plan hopefully all will be sorted and treatments and plan get together, kind thoughts with you. I’m in hospital after my 9th surgery in 18 months yesterday and hope to be home tomorrow. Once again my cancer not  performing how it should be and another tumour found in different place, but three previous tumours have gone deep biopsies done so wait and see, I’m good no pain could be home, but catheter not out till midnight

good thoughts with your procedure, try hard not to overthink anything and sometimes I think the less you know the better it is but your brain doesn’t seem to think the same and I find night the worse for brain overthinking

kind thought with you

Re: Nervously waiting for liver biopsy results

Hi this is my first time posting. I was diagnosed this July with ICC, Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma. It is Liver cancer of the biliary system my only tumor is 7cm and inoperable due to the fact that it's near all the major vessels in the liver 😲. Theu accidentally found it when I had CT for a UTI. I am a retired Ultrasound Tech of 30 years. I imaged thousands of cancerous tumors in patient's bodies, performed liver, kidney biopsies. I am still in shock that I developed cancer after retirement. It's probably a good thing I live alone because chemo is complex and taxing. Prayer and edibles are my go to. The hardest thing for me is have just enough medical knowledge to read all my scans, the terminology and experience to know my prognosis is not good. After 8 hours of chemo infusion today I asked my Oncologist for a letter signed by him stating my diagnosis to mail to my daughter and son in law who are in the Air Force several states away and need this document to apply for Humanitarian orders to be transferred closer to me. My doctor gave me the letter and I read the letter of course and when you see words like "advanced stage" and "months to live" the shock sets in deeper. Today I am symptom free except chemo side effects making me miserable. I am getting chemo for myself and my family because they need me to fight, however I have accepted the probable outcome, have made all my final arrangements and continue in prayer daily. There's a book someone gave me called Radical Remission I thought it was worth reading. Wishing everyone the best!

Re: Nervously waiting for liver biopsy results

Hi @SANTASLILHLPR ,

I'm so sorry about your cancer, but PLEASE don't presume it's the end for you, I think it may be harder for you because of your medical knowledge and you may be presuming the worst, but can't the chemo shrink the cancer? maybe put you in remission?

I'm constantly amazed at how much more advanced they are now with treatments compared to even just 10 years ago! so don't give up hope, go into battle like we all are, fight!! 🤞😘

Sending hugs,

Cindi x

Re: Nervously waiting for liver biopsy results

Hi @greg57 ,

That would be nice to catch up when we're on recovery and feeling better😊

How did it go today for you?

Today I saw my Onc, and I asked a few questions, like "why" my cancer is called "bladder cancer" when it was in lining of my right Ureter? and he said because it's all attached, the lining goes from kidney down ureter and around lining of bladder. So got that question sorted.

Also I could go ahead with chemo today so I did and all was fine, I'm home now and feel ok, I will take lots of meds to stop constipation as that can be a problem with one of my chemo drugs, and can become a big problem if you don't get on top of it from the start.

I went away with more sleeping tabs, nausea tabs and an injection I inject tomorrow into tummy to boost my immune system.... they have treatments for all side affects sorted! wonderful what they can do for you now, so you try not to worry.

Hope you hear back soon about what your next step, I honestly think it makes you feel a bit better when you KNOW what the plan is.

My hair is meant to come out on the Carboplatin chemo, ( this is my third cycle)  but so far it's just sort of thinning, hope it stays that way, but if I loose it, it will grow back so just trying to focus on the positive.

Sending hugs,

Cindi x
