Oral Cancer treatment
Does anyone know anything that works on the mucous? My husband had surgery in March, began radiation and chemo April 30, and is experiencing the mucositis. He says there is nothing coming up to spit but he sounds awful and is coughing constantly. I don’t know how he can be still for his treatment tomorrow.
Thanks for any advice.

Re: Oral Cancer treatment
Hi @CAP,
I hope your husband is doing better with the mucositis.
I can see you've found the big thread about head and neck cancer's in general, which has the best advice in there. Let me know if you need any help with the site though!
Cheers,
Kate

Re: Oral Cancer treatment
I have had treatment recently for tonsil cancer, the thick spit is awful. I rinse and gargle all the time with bicarb and water about a quarter of a teaspoon in a cup of water , I don’t swallow it . It helps to liquify the spit and helps nasty taste in the mouth . I wish your husband luck with his treatment
