Hi everyone just to let guys know on Monday I will be having my second chemo with Raltitrexed +Oxaliplatin but they are going to do Desensitisation and gradually increase it every 30 mins. The Oncologist said this has to work either wise if I have any reaction the Oncologist said there won’t be any alternative🥲. I’m so so scared I’m hoping it will work I’m so distraught and don’t know what to do if it does not work. They say people with bowel cancer have a 5 year survival rate , I’ve been thinking all sorts of things in my mind it would be good if there are other people going through similar to me and we can chat it might help me through this.

Hi everyone I’m back soon I’m having my second chemo. I had a bad reaction in my first chemo with the oxaliplantin as I had problem breathing but it was ok. Then they put me on Capacitabine which was a pain couple days I had bad chest pain, when I saw my oncologist I said I don’t won’t to go through this again either wise I will stop the chemo. He agree and said we are trying another drug called Raltitrexed and that was ok, now when I go for my second chemo I will have both Raltitrexed and oxaliplatin together unfortunately I will have to spend 8 and a half hours there as they will give it to me slow.

Hi @sch I saw my oncologist yesterday and told him about what happen with my first chemo. I said I don’t want to go through this again where I had bad chest pain and in my arms. Obviously it was the chemo tablet capecitabine that gave me this side effect which the oncologist said people do get bad effects from capecitabine. So now I won’t be having that tablet anymore thank god, now on Friday I will be having my chemo but this time it’s a drug called Raltitrexed which work with Oxaliplatin and they will reduce the dose for Oxaliplatin. I will let everyone know how I’m going and Tks for everyone who responds to my message. Hugs to everyone

Hi just letting people know I had my first chemo treatment about 3 weeks ago. The first chemo did not go well as I had problem breathing when I had the intravenous injection Oxaliplatin , which I had to stay in hospital over night in case something happens. Then I had the oral tablet capaceitabine which after about 4 days taking the oral I suffered a severe chest pain and into my arms , I ended up in the emergency hospital. It felt like I was having a heart attack. Not too sure if it’s the treatment to strong for me so on Monday I will see the oncologist to see if they can lower it down or put me on something else. As I don’t won’t to go through this again either wise I will stop the chemo.

Hi @Jess24 No I have not be linked with a psychologist. Two days ago I had to go to the emergency hospital as I was getting chest pain and both my arms where hurting like hell and it’s still hurting. When I went to the emergency they did a ct scan on my chest to see if I had blood clot and that came up ok, I had two blood test and my troponin was 30 then they did another blood test and my troponin was 29. I will see my gp on Monday to see a review with the cardiology and cardiac investigation.

Hi everyone just to you know I’m having a had time with my first chemo affects , I have no energy always tired . I’m also feeling down and stress did not sleep well last night. They say the first and second chemo cycle are hard😞

Hi @Jess24 I’m still not feeling well after my first chemo as it made me very tired and don’t seem to have much energy. Will see the oncologist on the 21 oct i think the chemo took it out of me , I hope this won’t last to long all I want to do is sleep anyway I will keep you updated on how I’m going . Tks Jess for your message it’s good to know I can talk to people in this community.

Tks @Cindi54 I’m trying to keep strong since I had my first chemo I’ve been just so tired my appetite is not to bad considering I’m only 45kg and I’m afraid of loosing more weight, not have the energy for the chemo. I wish I could speak to someone in my area in Orange. I found if I talk to people I feel a bit better.
