Tks @Jess24 i will try and keep active and positive. When I see the oncologist again he will tell me what will happen. They may change the treatment not sure I will keep you posted. Once again Tks for your message, it’s good to talk to people who have had cancer. Hope to chat soon Jess

Hi just want to know if anyway has had a bad reaction to chemo using Oxaliplatin drug? My bad reaction to Oxaliplatin where I could not breath well as I was trying to gasp for air. They had to call in the emergency team to see what was happening. Then they gave a steroid to calm my breathing down and also gave me oxygen. Which eventually my breathing calm down but it was scary for me. Does anyone know when someone has had a bad reaction to Oxaliplatin do you thing they will give it to me again? As they told me that this is the top chemo drug.

Hi @Jess24 I’m doing not to bad I had my first chemo treatment on Friday , unfortunately I had a bad side effect which where I could not breath almost like gasping for air. My mouth and arm went numb. They had to set of the emergency alert as my breathing was getting worst and there was 20 people that came around to what was happening. Then they gave me cortisone to relax my breathing. So on the 21 of October I will see the oncologist to see what’s will happen next. It was so scary it mad me cry .

Hi everyone just to let you know I just had my first chemo today, cause what I had my first horrible side Effects. Just when I was just nearly finish my does I started to feel the change in my voice could not speak properly. Then I had numbness around my mouth and a bit on my arm, the other effects I had was I could not breath trying grasp for air , so they called the emergency team in I think there was about 20 people came in. They put oxygen on me and they gave me something to easy my breathing. I’m not to bad now , they will keep me overnight just to monitor me. I was so scared it frightened me did not know what else was going to happen.

Just want to ask if anyone has used these two drips Oxaliplatin and Capecitabine when having chemo? If yes did you get any side effects?

just to let people know I’m starting my chemo on Friday I will be having two drugs one through a drip and the other is oral. The name of the drug is Oxaliplatin the drip and Capecitabine is the oral. I will be having chemo every 3 weeks for 3-5 months.

Hi everyone I’m just a bit nervous as tomorrow I will be seeing the oncology regarding chemo. I will keep you all inform what happen and how long I will have chemo for? I’m just a bit stress as to what it will cost for the treatment of chemo, I know Medicare covers certain amount as I’m on a dsp pension. I will find this out tomorrow and maybe someone might be able to help me.
