Re: Raltitrexed and Oxaliplatin

  1. Hi everyone just to let guys know on Monday I will be having my second chemo with Raltitrexed +Oxaliplatin but they are going to do Desensitisation and gradually increase it every  30 mins.  The Oncologist said this has to work either wise if I have any reaction the Oncologist said there won’t be any alternative🥲. I’m so so scared I’m  hoping it will work I’m so distraught and don’t know what to do if it does not work.  They say people with bowel cancer have a 5 year survival rate , I’ve been thinking all sorts of things in my mind it would be good if there are other people going through similar to me and we can chat it might help me through this.

Hi Mary,

It is really good that you have reached out to the Online Community for support. And I'm sure you will find some supportive voices from others who are also experiencing treatment. It can be such a stressful time when the mind is very active with thoughts.

If you feel that you would like some extra support and to speak to someone over the phone, please call our Cancer Council Information and Support Line on 13 11 20.

Best wishes,

Felicity

Re: Raltitrexed and Oxaliplatin

Hi @Mary60

I think you'll be ok with this combination of chemotherapy.

You'll breeze through it.

I had bowel cancer in 2017. I had surgery and chemotherapy and here I am. I am cancer free.

Stay focused on getting though this. I know that you can do it.

Now it’s all  just check ups in April I have a CT scan, blood test and colonoscopy.   Does anyone know how long it takes before you know your in remission? I will keep you posted on how I’m going.

Re: Raltitrexed and Oxaliplatin

Hi Mary60,

Welcome back!

I just wanted to say that I am very happy to know you have finished your chemo treatment. 😊

I can not say how long does it take for doctors to confirm you are in remission, as every case is different but I would like to see what are the experiences of other community members.

Warm regards

Susana

Re: Raltitrexed and Oxaliplatin

Hi Mary60
I hope someone from the forum who is or has gone through something similar reaches out to you from the forum. If not and you are still struggling with your thoughts, if you live in Australia, please call our 13 11 20 telephone number, they can offer you support and someone to speak to about your concerns. If you're not in Australia, please speak to your consultant/nurse or someone who can hopefully help you alleviate your concerns.

Re: Raltitrexed and Oxaliplatin

Hi @Mary60

Yay for you and getting through all your treatment.

What an amazing achievement. What a relief.

As for how long until you know you are in remission?  That will depend on your personal situation.

Some variables in here might be what stage you were in to start with.

Best to check in with your oncologist.

Please let us know.  Good luck

Sean
