My husband does not like people to ask how I am, he gets teary & does not like it. I dont think I am scared of dying ... I had a bad accident 8 years ago, I lost 7 hours of time somewhere, but was told I was talking ok - which is weird as I never say things properly so Ken said he knew something was wrong lol I felt like I was watching things from afar & had no pain - so I have never been worried about dying since. Had major pain from when I can remember from 7 hrs later. I worry about losing out on the things I want to see happen. Our son (19) getting a girl & marrying or finally moving out lol. I want to enjoy the house we have just moved into (Our design) but at least I know I will enjoy recovering after my opp here. Pain is the worst thing I think,as you dont have much control over it. When I see the surgeon on the 27th I will find out more about this cancer & hopefully get a date or even the month that the opp will happen. Cancer Council have managed to find me a nurse who has had my opp & is also nursing in the peritone ward in sydney. I sent her a text. oh we will be having many many beers soon. I have been waiting to celebrate a few things ... Moving into the house we bought, selling our old house, me turning 50 last Sept. We havent wanted to party until the house sold as we split our block & built up the back, so we didnt want a perspective byer driving past while the roudy thing was happening lol Our house goes unconditioinal this Friday - hopefully all her finance goes through. Hi Maddie, It is very hard to know what to say to others. I am a very straight forward person. I also have a rear cancer that needs a 10 hr opp soon. I will be flying back to NZ this week to see my 47 year old sister who is dying of secondry cancer - now in her lungs, across her heart & in her liver - she has about 3 weeks to go, so I am hopeing to get there in time. I saw my sister in Jan for a week & I said to her ... dont take this the wrong way please :-) last on first off - she is the youngest & then me 🙂 then 2 other sisters older than us. all my friends can not believe how I can easliy tell them about my cancer & what is happening to Diane. But .... The only way I can deal with it - is to face it straight on & deal. I have researched - know that I have to have this opp if I want longer than 5 years - over it - do it. Could others be like this who are friends? I dont know as I freek out all my friends - they are all in tears & I just say I have now upset you. sorry to hear of your ordeal. sometimes I wonder why we are sent on these journeys .... Hope you keep looking at the positives - hard as they may seam to be. I am also on a long journey. I am hoping that my food or tastes are still ok after the HIPEC chemo treatment I have to have, but then I am getting a major tumm tuck process with that as well lol. The last chemo I was on - I kind of went through ok - so my fingers are crossed they will be pretty good once again. Hope you can manage to stay on top of all appointments & value your own feelings as well as the specialists. I suppose they all have to start somewhere in the job. Thanks Shell, I think the surgery is in about 2 months time as they have to orgainse 2 full teams of surgeons & the large theatre room in the P.A Hospital. I will tell the chemo people with I see them that I am a stubborn person & that the roundup (I will call the chemo lol) wont kill me lol I am like a weed ha ha. Yes I hope I get to spend some quality time with my sisters for a week. Thank you. I will be all good. Hey Andrew Old Hippy, I love your attitude. I have cancer - well people are either carers or sufferers at one time or another on this site - so yes I have cancer too. I am a positive person - not worth moping about for me as that does not get anything done. Like you I have not read many books about cancer - so many people about that I kind of know the tough road to travel. I have googled the operatioin I am about to have - freeky lol Your post is great to read - makes one smile or crack up laughing. simular upbringing when I was younger lol. I havent yelled, screamed or cried yet about my upcoming opp. I have to keep it all together to go visit my younger sister 47 who is passing away with secondry breast cancer symptoms (lung & liver) So I just deal with each days challanges.
