Dear Butterfly,what a cool name sure beats my oldman username. Well really I'm not that old I'm only43.On the 18th of September this year I found out that I had a T3 tumor in my bowel, this came totally out of the blue and as you said turned our family life upside down.We were on such a high as the month before we found out that baby number 4 happening (due in late march)I find it hard to get the word cancer out of my head it tends to be there all the time when my mind is idle, I tried to see the social worker today but she was busy.I think that I'm getting better with the treatment I think that the biggest side effect from it all is fear I think I have said that you know that there is no real pain from the radiation and the drugs but each day I dread going in there.Reading your post did help me have a much better day so thank you for taking the time to share with me your story.Best Wishes,Kevin (oldman) ... Hello Chris, Sorry it has taken so long to reply because I have spent the last fews weeks on the couch just playing my xbox. My tummy has healed up really well but the bum is another story, it is so bloody sore to sit on. But I know in time it will heal. I have someone I can ring tomorrow (wednesday) and talk to.I'm feeling quite sick at the moment so I have not had that much to drink.I think Butterfly is right as I get more into my treatment I will lose the taste and desire to consume too much. Hello Guys,Sorry I have not been around of late.....I've been getting used to the life style changes imposed on me, plus I have started back at work and school.When the surgeon gave us the results of the surgery he said to us that it was `mostly good news` what we neglected to ask was what he meant by that, we became snow blind by the positive info.It was the Oncologist that told us that I still have tumor cells in some blood vessels in my stomach.So I have started on six months of chemo, weekly dose of 5fu (Fluorouracil) I'm on a low dose so all should be okay.Donna has not had the baby yet but I promise I keep you all informed. I've been sitting here catching up on everyones posts pondering if I want, need or should write about this subject. But after reading I figure this is the place to share.I have always been a beer drinker but over the past few weeks I have been consuming around 48can a week! Why am I doing this, well not sure really I think some of the reasons are:It is helping me wee so much better (still having some trouble in that area)I feel a bit indestructible after surgery But really I'm not sure why I spoke to a Social Worker last week who has put me in touch with a drug and alcohol counsellor. Because it is Easter I have to wait until Wednesday to contact them.This is not a panic thing yet but I do not want to become dependent on drinking, plus spending $80.00 a week on grog is a total waste of money we do not have.I'm still not sure if I want to post this I know I will not be judged  so what is the problem?oldman ...
