Hi Lampwork54, Great to hear from you. Because of our compromised immune system, I would advise all cancer patients to wear a mask when they go out if they're on chemo. The authorities are only saying we - the public - don't need to wear a mask because there's not enough for the health workers. The virus can linger in the air for up to 3 hours when someone coughs. Hi Tanya67, I'm very sorry for your father, & for the stress you're under. If the treatment works properly, it should give him some good quality of life, as long as there are no underlying autoimmune issues to deal with. There's a couple of options you may be able to look at regarding his care & you needing to go back to work etc; is it possible he moves in with you, or vice versa?; can he have access to a carer through palliative care?; the last option I can think of isn't a pleasant one, but, him going into an aged care facility. The last one probably wouldn't be a very good option in the current climate. It's a difficult time for you, but try not to stress too much. There are people you can speak with who can give you great advice. You can even call the Cancer Council and speak to someone here. Don't forget to look after yourself though. Hi Lindsay, My chemo is a daily tablet & I'll be able to start back on it as soon as my eye heals enough. Speaking of my eye, man, I didn't realise just how blind I was. It is fabulous to be able to see again, even if it's just from one eye. Hubby's surgery has apparently gone well. I haven't been able to get in there to see him. He doesn't want me to risk getting the virus. He is in alot of pain though. He's taking 2 Endone & says that only takes the edge off. For him to take any pain meds, it must be sore. Hi Lindsay, What a bummer! I am sorry it's not good news, but yes, it's probably better for you at the moment to stay put. I hope any further growth is extremely slow. I am currently off my chemo, had to stop for the cataracts to be removed, but I can already feel pain & growth in some places where I've had mets before. Hi SheaShea80,   It's very hard to tell from the photos, but I really think you should consult your GP about it.  Unfortunately, they will probably need to see them in person to make a proper diagnosis, but you should call him/her just to make sure.  At least now, they are allowing phone consultations with your doctors .  You never know, they may be able to give you an answer without actually having to see you. Hi Robynsew, I think you're amazing for still working. I take it you have all the necessary PPE required to protect you. If that's the case, & you're taking all necessary precautions, then you should be safe. When my husband & son come home,they go straight to the laundry & disinfect themselves. They take off their shoes & put house shoes on. They change clothes, wash their hands & face with soap, & spray everything with Glen 20, including anything they bought from the shops. Thanks @Lindsay & @Katekat, All done & dusted. I was actually first on the list, surprise surprise. Everything went well apparently, & I get the patch off tomorrow. Hubby called the hospital this afternoon to see if his surgery is still going ahead - his answer was that they still don't know & just to assume it is, unless he hears otherwise. He is to be admitted Wednesday arvo for surgery on Thursday. Midnight Wednesday is when they're suspending most elective surgeries, so we just have to wait & see.
