Hi SandiS, I have terminal kidney cancer & know exactly how you feel. I am a little older than you - just turned 56. While my 4 children are all grown & flown, I am lucky enough to have 5 gorgeous grandkids, which I get sent regular pics of & have live chat sessions to see them. I use the love I have for my family to keep me going. I refuse to give in & I put little stock in any timeline given. I keep a good attitude with help from my wonderful husband, but of course there are the days when I cry. I don't want to die! So I will continue to refuse to give in. Use this forum as often as you need to, as there is a wonderful lot of people here, who can give you guidance & support. Talk to your son openly & often. Talking is the best thing. If you haven't done so already, prepare your funeral now. Don't leave it, even though it's a painful process, it can also be therapeutic in its own way. I've got mine all organised & ready to go. Involve your son in the process, if he wants to as it can help him too. Just don't forget that you are not alone. Sending you well wishes Budgie

Hi @Katekat, I hope you're keeping safe & sane in this time of lockdown. Are your little ones coping with it all? I'm going pretty well, thanks, although, within the 3 weeks I was off my chemo, the tumours were growing back. I restarted the drug a few days ago so, fingers crossed, it will continue to work for me & get them under control again. At this stage, there's no surgery for the other eye until the cancer is under control, so the fact that the govt still has restrictions on surgeries is irrelevant for me. The eye itself is fabulous 🙂. Hubby's second surgery went well, & he has had a stiff-neck collar around his neck, 24/7 since the end of January, so he's very eager to get the thing off, around mid May, all going well. I'm enjoying having him home from work though, as I love his company. So all in all, things are good here 😊. Cheers Budgie

Hi Lillypad, I understand what you're feeling. I too, have alot of family members with one form of cancer or another; 2 of which have died from it. You do need to find someone to speak with & download your feelings. I can't stress this enough. Make sure you take time for yourself each day/week, (whenever suits) to do something for yourself, even if it's only 15 minutes. I was diagnosed with terminal kidney cancer in August 2012. There are quite a few good treatments around & hopefully, your father's cancer is in an early stage. Oh gosh, I'm very sorry to hear that your wife is positive @sch, & hope by some miracle that you haven't got it, & don't get it. I also hope your wife makes a full recovery from it. It's so easily spread thru a community, much more so than what the govt is telling people, - still saying we don't need masks on. I think the only way you're not at risk of getting it if you go out, is to wear a full faced mask & disposable gloves, which you throw in the bin before you get in your car or home, then disinfect everything you used/touched while you were out before touching anything else. Then wash your hands. That's my rant over, but I do hope all turns out well for you both. ❤ Budgie

Hi Lampwork54, Great to hear from you. Because of our compromised immune system, I would advise all cancer patients to wear a mask when they go out if they're on chemo. The authorities are only saying we - the public - don't need to wear a mask because there's not enough for the health workers. The virus can linger in the air for up to 3 hours when someone coughs. I for one, will always wear a mask when I go out. But, I'm lucky enough to have some. Hubby has always kept a small supply of masks, vomit bags, etc since I was diagnosed. Budgie
