CeeDee Sorry to hit the send button. I was not able to use the magic wash...something about lidocaine did not agree me. Just plain baking soda and salt and bear thru the pain. Lost 22 lbs thru the Rad/chemo 35/10. Again you will find some really helpful advice at the fb group. Cheers

CeeDee Funny you mention weight loss, since I've been losing a pound a week lately. Mine (I hope) has to do with a mean bout with neck lymphoedema and Reflux from making wrong decision regarding my eating habits. A year out I was well on my way to normal eating then the Reflux restarted an ulceration at an old site under the tongue and esophagus. I'm back to using the Ninja and drinking my food (which I absolutely hate 😞) while the ulcers heal (they are). The lympho complicated into fibrosis so makes for mechanical difficulties coordinating chewing, directing the globulus and actually swallowing. There's also the little detail of esophageal constriction, apparently common to hnc post treatment patients. If you have facebook (I didn't til about a month ago) let me suggest their Head and Neck/Oral cancer and support chat group, of which I am a member. Fantastic people and very very informative-great place to connect with others with s similar symptoms and problems.

CeeDee Unfortunately, depending on your health status coming out of Rad/chemo you may not heal as fast as you'd like. I had squamous cell (head and neck cancer) and yes, even now, a year out, I still get bouts of (very) sore throat (and sores in throat). There have been times when excessive coughing have expectorated pinkish phlegm. Comes and goes. Do keep your health team adviced...but unfortunately the Laundry List of side effects becomes a reality we live with. Cheers, Joe

Hi there- I too went through the lymphoedema battle and did find a lot of disheartening info...but keeping at my research I also came across enough info on lympho massage, fighting inflamation with herbs and supplements and exercise routines that eventually allowed me to design an upper body calisthenics routine that helped me get my face back and, for the most part, keep it. Sure there were setbacks and research is still continuing. Now fibrosis has been the object of my passion, since my neck turned to beef jerky on the radiation side. Yes, extremely limited head and neck movement, pain, disfigurement on neck, jaw problems, swallowing problems and more. But again research, research research (use engines other than Google by the way-I prefer Duck) has come to the rescue. Of late my experimenting with supplements went astray (yes, supplements can interact badly like any lab made drugs) and I lost some ground...but I'm back on track. I agree you shouldn't believe everything you Google, but I also believe exhaustive research and informed trial runs self medicating can help one achieve results superior to established medicine for the money. Cheers

Mimi- I really hope you got proactive avout this and asked for second and third opinions...and bugged every doctor and agency til you got some answers. No one can take charge of finding a solution except yourself. Don't take no for an answer-talj to patient advocates at the hospital and Bug Bug And Bug people until you get to the bottom of this. Cheers

Hi Phil- My God sounds like you've been thru the meatgrinder! My hat's off to you Mate! I'm really glad to hear you're keeping a stiff upper lip and taking your victories as you work them. And I've got to thank you for dropping ne this inspiring line. Needed it, to be honest, since I'm back at the No Eating stage with some kind of ulceration at the throat I'm hoping is just a return or aggravation of Radiation Side effect. I've been using Fenbendazole and it looked like life was turning there and the cancer was under control. Now I'm not sure what to believe since my weight is ten lbs less than after treatment. But, I'm still involved in daily house remodeling (about to finish a gym room in the house, then the office addition), gardening etc. There is a Head and Neck/Oral cancer group in Facebook thats really outstanding...so I've been plugged there. Great support, info and humor. The Corona Thing at least provides entertainment. Thank God I finished the Pantry last month and stocked it with a month or so of non perishables-not a survivalist, but have had a few friends who were (as well as some Mormon clients). I guess I blind lucked there with tge pantry idea... I hope your days cantinue to reward that Warrior Spirit in ya! Joe

Hi Bill... i found a mention in my journal after which Thrush was never mentioned again (it's never reoccurred). It was a mouth rinse of plain water with a quarter teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Journal said it burned like hell but eliminated the thrush. Not sure that's a practice for the faint hearted but apparently it alleviated if not eliminated the problem. It also burned like hell. Cheers Joe.

Bill- Just checked my old notes and it seems that for thrush I also experimented with various dilutions of 3% hydrogen peroxide and water...building up towards full strength until I could stand the pain and got results. Apparently the peroxide wash kept the thrush problem at bay for me.
