I was curious as to whether food alone worked or if you needed to take a supplement also. 🙂 I also take magmnesium and multi v. Since my head and neck treatment I don't eat quite the variety of food that I used to. I generally feel pretty good these days except lately I am feeling quite fatigued - hence the thyroid check. Hi Ria I am not currently undergoing chemo but I have had it 3 years ago. One thing with being a patient is that we lose a lot of our independence and do become reliant on others. If you can look on that as a temporary thing as that will get better once you have finished treatment. It is just a means of getting through what you are currently enduring. ANother thing you could do is to find something that interests you that you can do or take up a new hobby. It is hard but it does pass 🙂 I used to find there was little I could do because I slept so much - due to medication - and not much time outside of everything that needed to be done and sleeping. Vitamin D deficiency is apparently at 1 in 3 that are deficient in australia. I take vitamin d and have done so since my last cancer diagnosis and it has helped with the muscle pain that I was experiencing post treatment. It does have many benefits and probably worth exploring enough for people to get tested. ... View more

Hi Gail The side effects sound very similar to those from cetuximab aka erbitux. I was on that for 2 months and the side effects are pretty tough especially the rash. My eyelashes grew, which suprised me no end! My muscles have not been the same since treatment and am convinced that is due to low potassium, which I need to get checked - but currently take potassium and it has helped. Whether it was worth it or not is only something that you can answer, which is pretty hard to do at the end of any treatment in that the side effects are great at this time. Two years is well done!! Hiya gn21 I am with you on the journey - don't like it and never use it! I much prefer to use "experience" instead. Everyone's story is unique because we are all unique and therefore react and cope uniquely. It is always good to have people's stories out there so that others can see how others "deal/cope/manage or not".
