Deejjay, I think you were writing this for me too apart from the distance. This will make you laugh. My very good friend of 15 years and lives across the road barely sees me now. We saw each other often pre cancer days but now I think our street has turned into a one way road. Me going there. Me telephoning her. I approached her and asked if there was any problems. Her answer.....she was very busy and will get back to me. Still waiting......She will wave and makes a bee line for her car, front door etc. What can you do except pick up the threads of your loyalty, your values etc and share them with someone more worthy.

Has anyone else had strange regrowth with their hair. Chemo was 9 weeks ago and my hair is growing quite well around the back but very patchy around the front and not even a hint of a fringe. It grew back white initially - not my original colour - now there is dark undergrowth with the white whispy bits. I don't even support that team....ha. I am not even sure when to bring the hairdresser in. How do you all deal with this? I would be most interested. Eyebrows and Eyelashes are growing with great speed and fortunately they are dark.

Hi Daphne Rose, I can relate to some of what your saying. My taste buds have totally changed since chemo days. My loves of life coffee, chocolate and potatoes are now distant memories. Going through radiotherapy has brought about the feeling of nausea again. Can't figure why but the maxelon is being brought out again. Helps somewhat. Eating makes me feel better too at the time but I get waves of nausea. Given that I finish active treatment soon - maybe things will right themselves. I just eat small and often and healthy. I hope this is temporary for you. All the best

Hi Tessa 61, Willow and Cherrybird. Just thought I would let you know that I too have been diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer in January 2010. I had 4 rounds of Ac Chemotherapy also known as the Red Devil by many of us. I had a Radical Masectomy in April with full Lymph node removal and following this I had 12 rounds of Taxol. I have just completed 25 radiation treatments out of 30. Its a battle with the last few radiation treatments as my skin is not holding up too well. My surgeon, ocologists have said that I have a very good chance of keeping this cancer in remission and particularly if I can go 3 years without reoccurance and if this occurs then my chances are the same as any breast cancer patient. All of the medical specialists that I have seen have said that Triple Negative cancer usually responds very well to chemotherapy. From my understanding they treat this cancer very aggressively which gives extra insurance for non reoccurance. Lets hope....I wish you all good health and hope I get the chance to chat some more to you all.

I would be most interested in hearing how others resume their lives again after active treatment stops. Cancer has given me more courage for change and more strength to initiate new goals. Remission will give me the chance to challenge old beliefs and create my new normal.

I have found travelling around this website most inspiring and as a new member I thought I would just put a couple of thoughts out there. My radiotherapy is complete on 4th October. 2010. Having been diagnosed in January 2010 and going the maize of cancer treatment with chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy my new normal is starting to unfold. Many around me expect me to resume life as it was prior to January. They think that if I resume Life as it was then I must be in a positive frame of mind. Been giving this a lot of thought lately and I am positive but I have a new frame work about my future.For the first time in my life I don't have a definite plan and nothing is mapped out. Interestingly enough I was reading the local paper and a volunteer opportunity was written where a database is being created for contact on a monthly basis for the elderly and the isolated. It is being run from our local police station. I took the first step and contacted them and this may create for me a starting point to my new normal. A total change in direction. Is it only me that feels nervous about explaining my new direction to others particularly family and friends?
