I really like your words Rubes and it is oh so true. I have inoperable pancreatic cancer which has less than a two year survival rate but I'm still going strong after 12months and I don't intend giving up in the near future at all.
Sometimes we need to or have to take a step backwards but each time it happens I try and take another two steps forwards. What are those words "give in" Iv'e never heard of them cause that's something I don't intend to do.

Hello to all my friends out there.
I have some fantastic news to give to everyone that feels they need a spirit lift and it's nothing to do with cancer
My partner has asked me to marry him and naturally I said yes.
So on the 8th September I go through a name change and I couldn't be happier.
Planning a wedding is a wonderful way to take your mind off cancer. I would recommend it to anyone.

Well it seems a while since I mentioned that my last lot of chemo (Abraxane) wasn't working so here I am back on the original chemo " good old folfirinox" this is the chemo that made me so sick I dropped 8kgs in a few weeks & had so many side effects I wondered if it was worth while going on. Blow me down, I've had a little bit of nausea, my appetite has dropped & I have a few mouth ulcers but thats about it.
Maybe it was all the prep work I gave myself & making sure I had all the right medications ready at hand but so far I'm cruising through it all.
Lets just hope it's working.

Laura believe me it's going to get worse before it even starts to look like it's getting better. I have inoperable pancreatic cancer & have been fighting it for a year now & when it starts to look good suddenly something goes wrong & I feel like I've taken a lot of backward steps. You just have to hang in there & fight with all you can give.
I have a friend in Vic that I met through this site & he has a similiar problem with his spine as you but his isn't cancerous. I will have to tell KJ about you as you both have something in common. KJ & I are friends outside of this site now & have become close buddies. We both have the same cancer but he has been able to have a whipple whereas I can't.
Again if you want to PM me please go ahead, it always seems to help more when you have someone you can talk to or vent & you will eventually find you will be doing a lot of venting.

Hi Laura, I'm from WA too. I have just done a google search on your condition & at least it is a fairly common occurrence & treatable. Where in WA are you & what treatment has your oncologist started you on?
It will be hard being so young & being diagnosed with cancer but as I said from what I have read yours is common & treatable so hopefully soon for you it will all just be a thing of the past & you can get on with your life & finish school.
This is a good site where everyone helps everyone in what ever capacity they are able to so make the most of it. If you want to talk just send me a private message.

First of is WHY ARE YOU SO ANGRY AND CONFUSED as this is surely going to relay to your wife and believe me she is going through enough hurt and mixed feelings without you adding your anger emotions to them plus all of that is not going to help her but stress her a lot more and she really doesnt need any of that.
A surgeon is just that a surgeon, they have no idea of what the life span will be for a cancer patient hence you need to TALK to your wifes specialist and again you probably won't get an answer as no matter how good the oncologist he/she is they are unable to give a basic timed life prognosis as everyone has differing cancers, differing treatments, different reactions to treatment, different out looks, different expectations etc etc.
If your wife want to go on this holiday and it may be the last time she gets to go away why are you making it difficult for her. Plan it, make good bookings, talk about it with your wife with enthusiasm you may not feel but you will show anyway.
I have inoperable pancreatic cancer and nearly into my 12th month chemo of it and we have just had a big setback with my last chemo not working and have found the two metastases in my liver have really taken off plus I now have a lot of small lesions. I am in constant pain every day but my fiance and I have just returned from a weeks holiday in Nth Qld, we get married in September and have already started planning our trip up Nth WA to Kununurra for about 4 weeks which means I will have to skip some chemo.
I have a big white board that I have my bucket list on and my fella is quite happy to take me wherever I want to go before I die. Basically he wont deny me anything within reason of course.
The only times my man has yelled at me is when he thinks I'm not looking after myself like I should be especially with eating and he knows I need to eat and eat a lot.
We try and live our lives as if I have many years to go even though for me every day I wake up it is the first day of the rest of my life and I try I keep and them active.
Don't deny your wife some happiness but try and join in with her happiness and yes sit down and talk but don't get angry she doesnt deserve that from the man she married and loves.

Hi Silly, I know Qld is a great place to live as my daughter and I spent 3 years over there. Started off in Mackay then moved to Gladstone and finally settled in Ipswich before we made the stupid decision to come back to WA.
I just can't wait to get back over there but I really want north Qld as I hate the cold and it does get cold down south. Where about's are you?

Hi Kasianne
Thank you for that information it certainly is helpful, I honestly thought I would be better off going to a private hospital for treatment as that is the case over here but it looks like I am wrong. I have private health insurance so there is no problems with paying for a private Dr. I hope you won't mind if once we know for sure where we are going and if it is Townsville (fingers crossed) if I contact you again for names of private Doctors etc.
