This could be a "stupid" question, but here goes. How long does the effect of radiation stay in your system? This time last year I was having radiation to the pelvic area, and since the that time I have been warm all the time. Ingrid, Thanks for you reply. I have also sent you a private message. I have been told that a pap smear would not have picked up my cancer as it was up too high. First test they thought it was cervical cancer, but then, when I had the hysteroscopy it was discovered that the cancer had started up much higher. Stay happy & healthy everyone.   ... View more

Hello Butterfly, I had 28 treatments of pelvic radiation. The radiation did burn the skin, and then I had to have a colonscopy a few weeks after the radiation. It was the preparation for the colonscopy that gave me a  hard time. Imagine spending all day on the toilet and with burnt skin didn't help much. I have to have yearly colonscopies from now on, so I figure it shouldn't be too bad from now on. Yes, I got zapped in 4 places. I didn't mind the radiation, as I was probably convincing myself that it was helping me onto the road of recovery. The frustrating part was the time that it took some days to get the right line ups. One particular male nurse, it didn't take too long, others it seemed to take ages. I still get a few aches & pains, so I had another scan a few weeks back, and basically as the doctor said, nothing to do with the cancer or treatment it is just "wear & tear".         ... View more
