Hello joffaboy,
I have oesophageal cancer, stage 4 and had ECF too. I Just want to say that it worked well for me, eradicating a met spread in my adrenal gland. It is tough chemo but effective.
I love your name for the 5FU, bob. I've heard the FU being called something a lot ruder using it's initials.
Being female, I had some nice bags to carry it around.
I presume you have a port? I love my port, so convenient.
Rest whenever you can , be very kind to yourself and I hope you enjoy your Christmas.

Hi CC, I'm sorry that Brett's cancer has spread. I'd just like to say that I have stage4 oesophageal cancer with lung and adrenal gland mets. It has been 15 months since my diagnosis and I've had 2 courses of chemo. The first chemo was very effective but also very tough. The second (current and a few months later) is much gentler, I'm used to it now and my quality of life is fantastic. I really am living normally. You wouldn't know I had this illness unless I told you or my snazzy hairstyle gave it away. Managing the side effects is important and you have to tell the medical team so they can help you. I do feel tired from the chemo and have decided not to work. I eat well too. I've some nerve pain but meds like lyrica are very effective. Please look after yourself too. I know how much I relied on my husband in the early days and he had to deal with a lot of emotional turmoil from me. I don't think I ever asked him how he was. We are in a much better place now. Oh, I'm older, 48.

Hi, just wanted to add myself as a fellow oesophageal cancer fighter. I'm 48 and stage 4 with lung, adrenal spread. I've also had a good result from the ECF regime but it was hard work. . I had a break for a few months and am now on a 16 week course of (kinder) chemo . Just wanted to say that 14 months post diagnosis, the treatment does not effect my quality of life. Nobody would know that I have cancer , except for my snazzy hairdo. My oncologist suggested that I think of this as a chronic disease that every so often needs treatment. Sure my outlook on life has changed but there is an abundance of good in it.
