HI In 2009 I was diagnosed with Stage IV Lymphoma. I had an ABVD chemo in 2009 and then a Bone Marror Transplant (BMT) in 2012. I handled ABVD well, but BMT knocked me around. I have to give up my lucrative professional practice, due to cancer and betrayl by my business partners. For about 18 months I suffered with deep depression. Howver, since then I had best time of my life. I have seen my both kids complete school. One in the final year of university and other in the first year. About two months ago, I was diagnosed with Myelodysplasia (side effect of intensive chemo in 2012). Now I am told that I have 1.6 years, if I am untreated. 5.5 years if I undergo highly risky Allogeniec Stem Cell Transplant. I am thinking is it worthwhile going through the Allogeniec Stem Cell Transplant. Any advice?

Hi Jennifer I was diagnosed with Stage IV Lymphoma ten years ago. I had both Hodgkin and Non-Hodgekin, an unusual case doctors said. I had a Bon Marrow Transplant in 2012 and I have enjoed the seven years since then. Before cancer I had my own lucrative Professional Practice, but with cancer and betrayl of my business partners I had to wind that up. For about 18 months I went through deep depression. But, looking back now I have lived long enough to see my two children complete school, one is almost completing university and other in the first year. With positve attitude and a fighting sprit one can fight the cancer and keep the death away. Now, about two months ago, I was diagnosed with Myelodysplasia (a side effect of intensive chmo I had in 2012). I am told untreated my life expectancy is 1.6 years. Treatment is highly risky. FIGHT ON AGAIN. I WANT TO LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO SEE MY CHILDREN EMPLOYED, MARRIED AND HAVE CHILDREN.

Hi I was diagnosed with both Hodgkin and Non-Hodgekin Lymphoma in 2009. I received ABVD treatment in 2009 and an Autologus Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) in 2012. I handled ABVD well, continue to work with minimal disruption. BMT knocked me around a bit, and I had to wind up my lucrative professional consulting practice. However, after a Splenectomy in 2018 March, I have have been in the best health for last 18 months. Now, doctors have diagnosed me with Myelodysplasia (low palletlet count) and preparing me for an Allogeniec Stem Cell Transplant. I was told a month ago, that if I am not treated I have 19 months to live. Even with treatment my life span is estimated to be 5.5 years. HOWEVER, AS I TYPE THIS NOTE, I AM IN BEST OF MY HEALTH. I live in Wellington, New Zealand. New Zealand is a small country with very close knit oncology specialists. It is almost impossible get a decent second opnion because everyone knows everone and unlikely to contradict. I am seriously thinking whether to undergo the Allogeniec Stemm cell Transplant or take the risk and not be treated. Any advice?
