Hi this is my first blog, but somehow I don't feel so new at this. My Mum has advanced cancer she was told roughly 18 months ago of her cancer. It started in the uterus and spread to her lungs. It has now spread to her brain. My Mum was a very young 70 something. She did not drink or smoke and was physically very active. She even rode a push bike up until a couple of years ago. She is my inspiration and has lots and lots of support. My two sisters and I are staying with our parents in country Victoria. I have taken long service leave to help out as much as possible. Mum has heaps of grand children that are very willing to help and support her. Our family will never be the same . My Dad has never been apart from his darling Jane ( my mum ) . We will pull together and stay strong for the road is going to get really tough. My two sisters are participating in the cure for cancer ride in October. They along with the family have managed to raise well over $13,000.00 dollars. I feel very very proud. We must find a cure for CANCER......................................................

Hi Jacqui I am so sorry to hear of your Mum's cancer. It seems a previous healthy lifestyle does not necessarily help keep it away (same with me). Your Mum is blessed to have a loving and supportive family, which many on this site don't have. Sending kind thoughts of comfort and strength to you all, Pamela

This must be so difficult for your mum but it's good that she has so much family support. Sometimes people can do all the right things to create a healthy lifestyle and still get cancer .There does not seem to be any explanation for this.

No one knows at present why this disease starts up in people that lead a healthy lifestyle and have no family history, it just does. Hopefully in the not too distant future all cancers will be as treatable as polio, smallpox, and other mass killers of not so long ago. Too late for us and our loved ones, but less heartache for future generations. The best of everything for your families journey. Wombat4

Hi Jacqui wow you have a great family circle to hold on to, and you are going to need it. Sometimes the family wont all stick together but thats ok as we are only human, draw strenght from each other and hold on tight. God bless you all rarsie
