48 and diagnosed with pancreatic Cancer 3 days ago. In a bit of a whirlwind at the moment. The last three days have been so busy. Prior to that was two surgical procedures in two weeks. One emergency surgery. Back in hospital on Monday and a port is to be inserted for the commencement of Chemo. (Pallative) Two weeks ago I could walk across the road, take my dog for a walk and live a life free of cancer. Today I just manage to make it to my bedroom. I have done the will, the funeral and told the family. The hardest thing I have ever had to do. There is no false hope here. I am going to face this head on and with as much laughter as I can manage. But I think at this very moment I am having a "bad minute". The one where you can't stop crying I hope to be laughing in the next one *smiles* The avatar is "Feathers McGraw" from wallace and Gromit. Not becase I resemble the penguin in anyway may I add!! But that show was one of the joys of my Son growing up. Yep this is a miserable blog post. I expect to improve! But the early hours alone are probably the hardest for me since the diagnoses. Got to smile for the family *smiles* Weed

Hi Weed Really sorry to hear of your diagnosis ... I am with you on the wanting to be able to laugh aswell as cry. Sometimes we just need to cry, so cry away and come up smiling for another day. Love your avatar, am having a little giggle here because i would have to have Thomas the Tank Engine as that was my son's "thing" when he was little. Mind you he then progressed onto planes. Julie xo

Thanks for your feedback Julie. I am having a "good minute" at the moment *smiles* *laughing* @ Thomas the Tank. My Son loved that also. I would have to change to the fat Controller Avatar though! My stomach is huge at the moment. Sadly it doesn't wobble like Santa's does! Now that would make me giggle *grins* Loved your avatar! Can't go wrong with a duck! Weed

Hey Weed Thanks re my avatar, its funny as i call my friend chook for some reason that i have no clue. So i have kinda taken on being a duck. lol Duck in an arm chair is iwshful thinking on my behalf i think. Glad you are having a good minute. Have you read any of Elizabeth Kubler Ross? certainly not answers to the many questions we have, but i view it rather as an explanation to the many feelings that we experience. It certainly sparks thinking on my behalf and often i come up with my own answers. Am giggling at you and Santa. I have a friend who has pancreatic cancer and we are going away next w/e with her husband. Staying with another woman i met through being at a cancer council accommodation place when i had my treatment. Quite a few friendships were forged during that time (which reminds me i have a letter to write). Hoping you will have many minutes of good times. Julie xo

Hi there Weed, How quickly our lives can change hey? I'm so sorry about your diagnosis & i hope you're having a smiley minute right now 🙂 But if you're not then cry bucket loads if you want to cos you are more than entitled to. I had a big laugh cos i thought i was crazy with my avatar but you & Julie have proved me wrong...Ha!Ha!Ha! There's 3 of us! 😄 Just for the record my son had a few "things" so i'd have to keep changing mine from good old "Thomas the Tank" to the "Turtles" & last but not least "The Power Rangers".......but only the "Purple" one. Take care Weed Hugs Mez xox 😉
