this is so hard. how do I discuss with my 80 year old mother. my choices for my end of life. I have two adult sons 20 and 22. who. are just so good. so willing to step up. I. need to now. that. they will be fine. my treatment. has not started yet. could be. one or two more weeks till they start chemo. cancer is classed as invasive no one is willing to go beyond. this. with out more results. so much to talk about so much to think about do much to take in.

Re: new. here. three weeks since diagnosis and still ...

Hi Kim, my husband didn't have long term pain from his lymphoma, only for a few days early on, when his lymph nodes were getting bigger and encroaching on his gut. What type of pain are you getting? Cool packs can be useful for inflammation, if your underarms or groin are tender (but nothing too heavy). It's probably best to ask your doctor directly, and be specific about what type of pain it is (sharp, dull, achey, generalised or specific to one small area) and how it rates on a scale of 1 to 10, and what isn't working as pain relief for you. The better you can describe your pain to the doctor, the better they can help you with it. I hope you get some relief soon. love Emily

misskim My mother was in her 80's when I was diagnosed with my last cancer. It is tough as you worry about them, aswell as you worry about your kids (in my case one child). I hope you get the same reaction to your chemo that I got. My pain started to ease a lot after the 1st dose. If you still have problems with pain, ask to see a pain specialist. Bad pain does your head in and it is tough to get through. Julie

Re: new. here. three weeks since diagnosis and still ...

Hey Kim I think you will cry when you are ready. I didn't cry when I was diagnosed ... there is so much going on and I can relate to the bit where you don't want to go there for fear of not being able to stop. Glad your mum and kids are doing ok ... I am sure by your attitude that things are as good as they can be under the circumstances. I have my 3 foster kittens here at the moment and they are growing and playing and eating me out of house and home!! Three is just one or two too many and hopefully now that they are old enough they can go to their furever homes and enjoy life. Julie
