Re: Living alone with Cancer and Depression

Hi Cindi54

Your a great support and to many,

your so right  people retreat as they simple don’t know what to say, they don’t need to say anything and family are the worst, same has happened to me with my brother and father , it does make us feel contagious, I have a wonderful husband who is my absolute rock

have a good week 💖

Re: Living alone with Cancer and Depression

Hi @Jennifer66 ,

I'm so glad you have a wonderful supportive husband, I also do I guess, he really tries but doesn't understand that much, and isn't around much, but I sure appreciate him when he is 😊

Got to be grateful for something.

Re: Living alone with Cancer and Depression

Hi Richard,

I was thinking of you and hope you're going OK?

I'm better than I was, it's always for the week after chemo I am shattered, feel like I've been hit by a truck, but now can get out and about, just a bit light headed and tired.

Hope you're coping ok.

Re: Living alone with Cancer and Depression

Hi Cindi,

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better now, that's good.

I'm just waiting till the 11th now for my first treatment.

I wish I could say that I'm good, but really I'm not, I had an allergic reaction to some medicine last week and its affected my whole body with a rash, I only took the medicine for one day when I realised there was a problem so I stopped it immediately. My GP has taken some tests for sjorgens syndrome that I may have developed over the last couple of months, i have all of the symptoms unfortunately , I get some test results back later today, if I do have it there is no cure either. My GP has said my immune system is not good right now.

I just can't believe I'm going through all of this, a year ago I was very healthy and now I have all this going on including my bladder cancer, I'm just so stressed and finding it hard to sleep even with sleeping tablets. I wish I had something good to say , I'm just so miserable but my partner is so supportive and try's to lift my mood, I know I must try to stay strong.

Take care.

Always wishing you well again

Re: Living alone with Cancer and Depression

Oh my gosh Richard! noooo!!😲

As if you don't have enough problems, and now this??

I'm so, so sorry.

If this is not going to go away, I guess you'll have to learn to treat the side affects, like the eye drops and mouth spray, also my chemo nurses recommended for me to gargle with a teaspoon of baking soda in a small amount of water, just swill it around mouth and it helps.

Also moisturiser on your skin, sorbaline would do but there is a product galled MOOGOO, made by a concerned mother to treat her child from rashes ect. and now there are quite a few of her products in chemists and priceline that are marvelous and really work.

Don't think of other stuff going wrong until and IF they do, then treat that problem.

This absolutely sux for you and seems terribly unfair, but that's life isn't it.☹️

I'm also so sorry you can't sleep, that's not helping.

I worry about that too as I used to like to wear myself out with exercise to ensure I'd sleep better, wish you could do this too, but one day you will?

Also this may sound weird but sometimes acupuncture can help and meditation classes?

I swear by acupuncture as long as you can find someone who KNOWS what they're doing ( but stay clear of Chinese herbal medicine, can be toxic)

You have to get your bladder cancer sorted out then you may get back your energy to exercise, keep striving for that, I can't wait till you get started on treatment.

If you ever need to chat, private message me, & I'll give you my number,  I really feel for you, but so glad you have such a caring partner, sending you big cuddles,

Cindi xxxx

Re: Living alone with Cancer and Depression

Hi @Richard56

@I’m so sorry to hear of your terrible setback

BCG  gets your immune system working, so hopefully when you start  your treatments you  have a great result, my immune system fired up really well although it worked slowly it kept working, so hopefully yours will fire up and help your whole body.

I have been very fortunate that I have never had any medication other than Panadol, and although I go through times of simply not being able to sleep I have refused sleeping tablets but I do manage  to get in a few hours, I don’t stay in bed I get up and I do some jigsaw puzzle and amazing how the time flies by, I do sleep a lot better now

my kind thoughts with and your partner

stay strong and think good thought always as things will improve

Re: Living alone with Cancer and Depression

Hi Cindi,

Thank you sooo much, I really appreciate all your support and suggestions for me, you really are amazing , you're a true friend that I'll never forget.

My GP needs me to have a multitude of tests tomorrow morning as I need to fast prior to, he said my tongue has irreversible cracking damage which is severe, he said with these new tests hopefully he will be able to get a diagnosis and treat the symptoms 🤞, the results will be a week away.

I will send you that private message over the weekend, thank you.

Always thinking about you.

Take care, and lots of hugs. ❤

Richard xx
