Waiting

Waiting

My hubby has just had a few tests. A mass was found in his bladder via ultrasound. He has also had blood tests, a CT Scan and 3 day urine. We are struggling with coping until we get test results or advice. Have an appointment with specialist but it is still over a week away. Any tips for coping? We are not sleeping and brains are working overtime. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Waiting

Hi Penelope,

I know waiting is the hardest thing. Easier said than done, but TRY NOT TO WORRY. Worrying will only make things worse, stress you out, make you anxious. What good can worrying do? Instead, if the weather is good, get out of the house & go for a walk, read a book, paint a picture...do something else to take your mind away. Try listening to some relaxation music just before you go to bed/sleep.
If you must, read up on bladder/urological cancers in case it is cancer & write down some questions ready to ask the doc when you see them next. The doctors all say not to use Dr Google, but I think its better to be well educated on a topic, & as long as you research reputable sources & understand that everyone is different & people will suffer/cope differently with each disease/treatment, that there is a vast difference in outcomes for everyone.

I wish your husband the best of outcomes.

Re: Waiting

Hi Penelope. Waiting for my proper diagnosis was the worst 3 weeks and my anxiety was overwhelming. I found if I had a big cry it would release the tension for a time.  I also wish I’d talked to someone at Cancer Council even before I got the diagnosis as I think that might have helped. LindaG

Hi Lynda, thanks for your support.  I have been thinking of phoning them and now will. Hope you’re doing OK.

Re: Waiting

Hi Linda,
I spoke with a nurse this morning who gave me some good advice and put my mind at rest about a few things. Thanks again for prompting me to contact them. 💕

Re: Waiting

Hi Penelope. I’m so glad you rang them and it was helpful for you. Yesterday I went and got a wig and some turbans from the Cancer Council. They are so helpful and caring and I’m going to use them more. I hope you and your husband get some answers soon and a plan of treatment. Xx Linda
