Good luck with your Surgery,it is hard to not want to burden family,or friends,but look at it this way ,sounds like you would be there for others,only this time it’s you who may need the support and help,I remember not wanting to ask for help and staying independent,but we may all need help at different times in our lives,just ask. I did ,and my life was enriched by the responses,I got.

Hi LuckyLisa It is a normal feeling to be overwhelmed by your diagnosis it’s definitely a big shock, a mate of mine is stage 4 with rectal cancer, he has had a bag and surgery,it’s about two and a half years since his diagnosis,he is on a lifetime maintenance chemo dose , but he is doing ok,he enjoys going to work it helps take his mind off things,hopefully in time you will be able to adjust yourself to what is occurring medically with your body. I hope surgery went ok.

Hi Kris All of our bodies react differently to a Whipple, I am fine now 10 year mark in a few months ,complications can be expected from this surgery, I Hope his stomach responds quickly,

KrisS I presume that they have a feeding tube in for your father ,are they sure that there is not a problem after surgery and not just waiting for the digestive system to wake up I took between 7-10 days before eating ,I hope he can start eating soon,I couldn’t wait to get off the tube,when he does start food enquire about a stool softener for him ,good luck.

Hi mangoman Thats disappointing the combo chemo did not work hopefully the next treatment may help your father,if the pain is constant, is his pain med dose strong enough,sometimes the chemo can help with pain also, but clearly his didn’t.

brenda2020 Possibly hospital sustagen powder mixed in milk or water ,if your Mum can take the milk a blended banana added is ok as well .I found mushy scrambled eggs was my go to but I didn’t have stomach cancer,good luck finding what helps ,trial and error.
