I imagine that I'd be the same if it was my child .I was diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago in a couple of weeks and it comes into my mind every day .I'm not depressed or worried any more but it's always not far from my thoughts. Part of the reason is living with side effects of treatments. Partly it is still newish . At 3 years of age my son was diagnosed with a kidney condition and not until his mid-teens did I really forget about it most of the time. Since then there hasn't been an event with it so I rarely think about it. If your daughter remains clear you may stop thinking about so much as time moves on. I have not got the same cancer nor have I had brachytherapy but did have imrt . I had to lie on a board wearing a mask and not move for this. They offered a mild drug from the valium family,Ativan. It helps you relax. After a few sessions I decided I didn't need it but I did enjoy the happiness and peace that lasted for a few hours after .I had not felt like that for months. I take Lyrica for post-operative nerve pain. My surgeon ignored it when I complained of it but my gp prescribed it .I've been on it for 18 months now. It is expensive and not on the PBS. I have reduced the dosage recently and hope to further do so . Lower doses have reduced side effects and are cheaper. I am not suggesting this is what you're after but there is this and other drugs for the problem . Ask tour oncologist as he/she should be addressing it if it is caused by his/her treatment. I am so sorry that you and your husband are going through this. I would ring for the blood test results because I would be curious ,even if the oncologist will not be reviewing the situation for a while . Still, I can understand why you will wait. When his gp is back there may be something that can be done to help relieve his symptoms. At least the gp is more readily available for advice. ... View more
