Thank you AJ and Wombat.it was like a nightmare that i just couldn't wake up from. I am glad i was there for her till the end. i just heard from my dad he seems to be ok when i spoke to him on the phone. I know she is looking down on us. I create candles and her favourite colour is purple and at her funeral i dedicated a purple candle to her and had it burning while the funeral was happening. When its her birthday, anniversary, the day she passed i will burn her candle in memory of her. I still see her face as she was passing i think that will be with me for a while. Right now im only just coping as hubby has just flown back to work today and am feeling a little lonely im constantly feeling nauseated and am having a hard time sleeping at night but yet for some strange reason im having a nap for about 2 hours during the day when i never could sleep at daytime. its very strange. thank you wombat for the name of the solace in the net i will have a look for it when i get a chance. ... Hi, I just read your demotion story and my heart went out to you. Cancer can have such a ripple effect. I had to give up my job completely, I was in hospital 17 times last year and now I'm going though post chemo fatigue, I'm really concerned about finding a good job again, at the level I was at. I too, like you have been in middle management.( sounds like a similar level) I haven't got the answers but it's going though my mind, should I take this as an opportunity to study again. I read about your decision to look for another job, I think that's great, don't let others make a decision on your behalf, about the direction of your career. Hi Nic I have found talking to people on this website of great help. People who have gone through what I was going through. It all seems such a blur with the tests and more tests and doctor after specialist etc. I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in September and am currently undergoing chemo & radiotherapy for 6 weeks. I am half way through and haven't had too many problems so far - just starting to feel the burn a bit but the staff esp nurses at the Cancer Care Centre have been great. Just let them know if you are feeling any adverse effects and they have things for you to try. Up until now salt baths and sorbolene cream have been working. Funny that they have all these fancy machines (I call mine 'Ray') and then back to the old basics for the side effects. I have found it really helpful listening to a guided meditation for healing before I go which settles me and puts me in a positive frame of mind. The radiotherapy for me only takes about 5 minutes so that is the good news. I try and stay positive but also let myself go with how I am feeling that day. Hi Stephanie, We've talked before about protein shakes....Welcome. This is a place that you can talk, cry, scream, and talk about anything and you will have at least one person respond to any blog. Some of us have had chemo/radiation, some haven't, however we are all living with the effects of cancer. My best advice is to write it all down, get out of your head space...just blog Steph. I'm now 8mths post diagnosis and only now has it sunk in....I had bloods the other day and sat there and cried...I got the nurse crying too as her hubby was off to Afghanistan rotation. Everyone has a story here and you will be able to derive courage and motivation from all. Another tip is to research "Groups" link above.
