Hi Inoperable isn't treatable or incurable. It simply means they cannot currently operate to get it all. When you are diagnosed the first thought is crap just cut it out and get rid of it. Totally understandable. But think treatable. You are not dying. You can be treated. They may use chemo or other treatments to shrink the cancer (so surgery may be an option) or get rid of it. I get that it is an awful time. But honestly look to the positive. I have had my stage 4 grade 3 cancer recur 4 times and have been told i am terminal but am still here 10 years and counting (i was 37 when diagnosed with uterine cancer). The worst and best advice i got was "don't be a victim". Harsh but true. Be positive. It is a crap thing to happen, not fair etc etc but you are still here and there is hope.

Hola sch, it’s great to keep in touch…thankyou 😏 I see that CaptainAustralia is planning another “big walk”, around Oz. And, judging by the YouTube stories of his last walk for cancer he will do this grand walk with humour, wit and great resilience…gotta love it ! I would just love to catch up with him somewhere on his pilgrimage…is there any chance that you can leave your little ones for a quick g’day with the Captain 🤔 His courage, strength and great hope for us Cancer folk is inspirational & contagious. Surely if the Captain can walk around Oz, I can walk the Camino with grace and strength 🤞 Ultreya …. onwards with courage 🙏👣💖

You don't fully know who your friends are until something goes wrong with you. A true friend would have stood by us and supported us, not criticized us. A good friend would not have blamed us (Mum and I) for Dad's death.

Youre very welcome. I completed my walk - it took 84 days, and in the first grueling weeks, I was able to process a lot of grief, fear, pain - even from before cancer - and leave it on the beach. I now don't think about cancer much at all, at least as it relates to me - although I did meet a bunch of people on the road impacted by the disease. A broken life CAN be fixed. And we, none of us, know how long we have left, or what lies ahead - whether you have cancer or not, life is full of potential and should therefore always contain an element of hope. I lost mine - but I won it back. You can too. The reunion with my family on the 84th day was a sublime moment, something I'll carry with me for the rest of my days. If cancer had it's way, I'd have been dead in early 2017. Good luck.

Hi I’m new to this page. I hope you are enjoying life after that amazing news of beating cancer. I am currently waiting to see an ENT after 7months of back and forth to the doctor with tonsil pain and everyone telling me there is nothing wrong I’m completely fine. I have now had 3 swollen lymph nodes in my neck for the last 10 weeks which when I had an ultrasound came back as all normal with no abnormalities apart from the central hilum was not visible. Are you able to tell me if that is concerning at all being through this process. I can’t get into the ent for another 4 months which is making me a whole lot more of worried

I hope you are well and cancer free. I understand how frustrating it is to have to wait and wait. I'm going through it right now. I should early next week if I do or don't have some kind of cancer.

Thanks for your kindness - I hope everything goes well for you. Cancer is such a tricky adversary, relentless in how it finds new ways to come at you. I think the key is mental health and sustaining your hope. Since my original post, I've moved universes forward from where I was even then. I've sorted out most of the radiation-thyroid weight (down around 96kg or so now, l lost more than 50kg (then put a little bit back on as I resumed normal eating). I've been working hard - and the largest part of that stems out of hope. Hope of survival, hope of a future. For me, I wound that into being of service - I'm going to walk Brisbane to Melbourne (26.12.21) for a charity called The Kids' Cancer Project. The Channel 10 show THE PROJECT did a story on it on the telly, here's a link if you're curious: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=283341400051472 So yeah, I can't overstate how important it is to maintain your hope. Even if you got bad news from the doctors, it isn't the end, you should always live in hope of spontaneous remission, hope of love, happiness, joy of some sort in your future.
