Great. That's why we all come onto this site. And I would take it a step further and make sure you say "I" and not "We" so much. Everyone in your family is going to react in their own individual way. There are some things you can do together but there are also things you can only do on your own.

Hi Rachel
I have multiple myeloma too and have had cell harvesting but at this stage no need for a transplant. I am currently in the middle of a six month course of Velcade which has worked before and seems to be doing its thing again.
I experienced something similar with my first remission. I became extremely depressed when treatment concluded and everyone went away. That's when I started to look for answers for myself and make my own plans for how to live. No-one else understood. (People here do, clearly.) It is sometimes hard to do but you need to forget about expectations and enjoy the full life you have - whether you are at work or not. I have given up work and am on a pension. Never been happier.
What reading are you doing?
H
PS. I know. It's 3.28am, but that's how it is sometimes.

Loved the piece DeeDee, except for the regret bit. I have lots of 'em, and I'm proud of all of it.

I think that is good advice. I would add, though, that it is likely to be a different process for each of you. You need some support too - and she may not be able to give it. Just be aware of the different roles of patient and carer and how each of you will want to get outside those roles. Realising that can be invigorating over time. But at the moment yes, take a notebook. Get someone else to send out a group email with the updates as they come in from the doctors. That way you will not be under so much pressure as a couple. Create some space so you can work out how to deal with it. There will be plenty of advice available from very skilled people about talking to the kids.
Cheers.

I had a similar experience and it was very distressing. I was booked in for a heart function test (after an ECG) by the specialist's office, so I naturally concluded that the ECG highlighted something that was wrong. As it turned out it was all okay, but I did not like the way it happened. I called the specialist's mobile and let him know I was not happy. He needed to know he should have dealt with me in a more gentle way. He was one of the arrogant ones. Then I moved on. Now I make sure I manage my specialists because I am the only one who knows the full story. It all works fine. But I am glad I did call him and express dissatisfaction.
Any chance you have to exercise your power you should take it. They are running very fast doing their thing and you and I are only the means by which they can do that. They need to know it is not like that for us. Nurses are a lot better, of course.

me too, reduce the amount of memory needed for the image (pixels, or something) and it should work.

Hi Ben
I have funny lumps on my right arm. They weren't there yesterday and they are red and sore now. What the hell.
