Hi, I have brain cancer and have been off work for 1 1/2 years, Centrelink has refused me 3 times. The first time the lady interviewing me said her son had a brain tumour as well, he had benefits paid.. but I wasn’t able to even get sickness allowance. The second time I applied the guy said it would be easier if I had never had a job and was on the dole, then they would pay... Absolute outrage of a system! Last week my Uber driver told me his entire family was on benefits and in gov funded housing because they were new to the country!!!

Yes I worked as a carpenter for 10 years, but the drs ruled out any connection.. my dad and grandfather both had brain tumours so the doctors are looking into that now.... what kind of leg pain do you have? Mine feels like I’ve ran a marathon and if I don’t take pain meds, it feels like I’ve torn muscles in both legs... All the best

Hi Kathryn, sorry to hear... I have some dizziness, lots of exhaustion but nothing in my arms.. mostly the pain in my legs, which still have the drs baffled... thanks for your reply and wish you all the best

Hi Annelise, how did you go with the leg pain? Do you still have any pain or pins and needles? I am approaching a year since my surgery and i still have the pain in both my legs. The Doctors are still confused as to why i have this pain at all.. Hope you’re doing well

Hi I have stage 3 brain tumour. I was wondering what everyone is doing for financial help during their battle with cancer... I have been unable to work since February and have been rejected by Centrelink and my income protection. I am soo close to being flat broke and there is no chance of a return to work in the near future. I am currently selling everything I have that's of any value and was wondering if there's any hope of some kind of income, other than crime haha... I'm only just hanging on

Hi reach, i am in a similar situation, I have a brain tumour, had most removed via an awake surgery in may. I have had radiation therapy for 6 weeks as well as chemotherapy pills ( temozolomide). I will finish my chemo in march next year. I take 5 mg of cannabis oil most days and have not been sick since I started doing so, the first month or so of chemo and radiation was pretty rough for me, so that's when I started taking the oil. Honestly if you can get it, it will help, I had no energy at all and was sick after most treatments until I started taking the oil... I can't believe this isn't legal, it works wonders. Not to mention the other benefits and conditions it treats/cures. (Anyway I could rant on about that for hours). I hope everything goes as well as possible for you. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me... ps my hair is fully grown back now after the radiation, so don't stress too much about losing it, it will come back, it's been 4 months since I finished my radiation. Hi, 6 months ago I was a fit healthy 31 year old carpenter, I was having the most successful year at work I've had, and generally in a state of happiness and excitement at the life I was living. Then out of nowhere, I woke on a Sunday morning in extreme pain in my legs and head. It got to Wednesday and I went to the doctors, they were baffled and sent me for every test possible.. After a month or so of tests we found the tumour in my frontal lobe. The neurosurgeon was confident he could remove the majority in surgery, but I'd have to be AWAKE... ( so they could ask me to move my hand, arm etc). To myself I thought "This should be interesting". The surgery went well and they removed 90% of the tumour. I remember a lot of the surgery and think about it often. I also remember having a seizure on the operating table... Fast forward 2 months and I've found out that it's a grade 3 astrocytoma. I am currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy at ONJ centre, the staff are all fantastic and very helpful. I am wondering if anyone out there has had leg pain associated with this type of tumour, as the docs are honestly baffled.. My legs feel so weak and like I've torn both hamstrings and calf muscles, I can only walk for 20 minutes or so before having to stop.Hopefully it's not something else causing this pain... Anyway I know that was all a bit long winded but I'd like to hear other people's experiences.. Thanks for reading

Hi I have just been diagnosed with a 25mm low grade glioma in my right frontal lobe. I am currently waiting on consultation with a neurosurgeon and have been left hanging with little to no information about the tumour. I have headaches constantly and pain in my legs. I am hoping someone can give me an idea of treatment options or if anyone has had a similar experience, the waiting to know is consuming my every thought, it's only been two weeks but I still know nothing.
