I was with him and he knew me. I read him his favourite bits of the Bible. He couldn't breathe - just gasping. I was holding his hand, he was gripping mine, and his breaths slowed, and his grip slackened, and he left me. Ray died today at 1110h. I'm so glad I was with him - he was terrified of dying alone in a hospital. I'm okay. I knew this day would come, and I've been prepared for it for the last month. I'm happy that he came back to me at the end. I'm not sure I could have handled it if he'd still been in the delerium - he wasn't my Ray then. I'd still like to tell the whole story sometime. It may help someone else to avoid what we went through. Thanks to everyone, love Lynne xxxxxx

I'm so sorry. I know that nothing that anyone can say can make it better for you. All I hope for you is strength, especially strength to get through the next few days. Be kind to yourself xoxoxo

*hugs* I'm glad that his passing was as peaceful as it could be and that he was really *with* you, and you with him, at the end.

Thanks so much for your support. I'm a bit of a basket-case at the moment, but I will come back, and I hope to be able to support others as you all are supporting me. Best love to you and your Mum, Lynne xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks, Julie, for your sympathy and support. From someone who understands it actually means something. Bit of a basket-case at the moment, but I'm sure it will pass. hugs back, Lynne.

Lynne Don't fight the basket case stuff too much, just run with it unless it gets out of hand. I am sure someone like yourself will know when the time is to say enough to that. Hang in there and reflect on some good times aswell as your grief. Hugs again Julie

Thanks so much for your support, especially at such a hard time for you. Having a loved one diagnosed with cancer is truly frightening and bewildering - don't let the health professionals steamroll you. I found that that out the hard way. I hope your mum is doing well. You're in my prayers. love Lynne xxx

I think that my problem is that I can't do the grief. Been hanging tough for so long that I can't let go. I was there, but I still can't believe he's gone. The mind knows, but the heart still hopes. Even in the face of his ashes on my mantle. Love lynne xxx

Hey Lynne It is difficult to remember that they are gone to begin with. It took me a while to remember that my Dad was no longer around and even times after a year it would every now and again catch me unawares. Julie xo

Lynne my thoughts are with, Do sit back and write your story it will you help so much, all the lovely times you have had together will bring you great joy as you are putting it down. I have found the more I talk about my cancer, takes so much tension off my mind, you would be surprised at the the people who are interested in finding out and how can they diagnose it and hopefully find it in the early stages. good luck, Roy.
