Salutations everyone, When I was diagnosed with my tumour I bargained with God and the powers that be that if I made it out 'alive' (the jury is still out on that one but so far so good) that I would do what I can to help. There is a kinship I think that exists between cancer patients, regardless of age, type of cancer or location. I had to have Chemotherapy to save my life and say goodbye to my unborn child at the same time prior to the Hysterectomy and tumour diagnosis. Through it all, we strive, we achieve, we carry on and sometimes we inspire. You are my inspiration. Your stories of courage, your journey, your experiences, your heartbreaks. So this one is for you such beautiful souls and kindred spirits. If you are curious and want to check out the official page - go to http://www.worldsgreatestshave.com/index.php Thank you for being such an inspiration. Teach. xxxxx

Set a really high target and get the kids on board! Do you have a Student Council? They are often really good at fund raising. At my previous school we had a similar challenge to the one already mentioned (2010 blog)and kids organised sausage sizzles etc. If nothing else, it gives the kids some ownership and makes them really aware as well. I was really interested in organising a team for Relay for life this year but I still don't know whether I have the emotional energy to take on anything more this year. You are a champ - go for it!! Although our school has our own "Shave for a Cure" team and you will be happy to know that there are Junior School (Prep-6) and Senior 7-12) students as well as teachers doing it (they have reserved me for next year as its hard to get teachers - so even it out he he!) BUT I will have the bucket in the classroom and staffroom and students and staff can donate as they see fit 🙂 $1000 is the target, we are over 10%...I think we can do it 🙂 I think we can 🙂

Thanks Teach I nearly offered via this site and then though nah sometimes its misinterpreted and then voila you posted a link in fb and i thought well why not?? Oh by the way if anyone wants to buy plants i have some for sale ... course the money goes to the cancer council. 😄 Mind you the grasshoppers have been a bit nibbly of late, but some are looking great. Julie ps ... Since i have started growing the plants two other people have started growing some for me too. Now these arent people that i am extremely close to and yet they are still doing it. How good is that?
