So- My darling husband has been in bed for 10 days out of the last 12. My two children have been yelled at for being too noisy, not going to sleep, not staying in their beds, at least daily......what do I tell them? They are aware that Dad is crook- they are 5 and 3. But it is not fair for him to yell- they don't understand..... They are engaging in what I assume is normal behaviour- fighting with each other, arguing over toys, television programs, where to sit at the dinner table.....but to a sick man in bed, it seems like it is WW3.

"Didion began writing The Year of Magical Thinking on October 4, 2004, and finished 88 days later on New Year's Eve. She went on a book tour following the release of this memoir, doing many readings and interviews to promote it. She has said that she found the process very "therapeutic" during her period of mourning." I just finished reading the above book by Joan Didion. Her husband died very suddenly and she wrote about the first year without him. I googled her name and this came up in the Wikipedia entry.

Mum passed away peacefully at home on 28/1/11 at 10.45pm after a very brave battle with cancer, I miss her so so much, she just turned 60 on the 15/1/11 that was her final goal, the first being there for the birth of my daughter Milla on the 18/11/10 and then christmas. We were all there by her side, spiritus care were so wonderful, supplying a hospital bed and being there everyday so she could be as comfortable as possible as her last wish was to die at home.

I start a new batch of chemo next week. PICC line back in on Wednesday and then straight into the chemo. This one is a shorter cycle of 2 weeks and 6 cycles. I have Oxaliplatin and I have the 5FU bottle in again, this time only for 3 days a fortnight. on the alternate weeks I go in to have the PICC line dressed. Its a bit scary stepping back in to the chemo doses again. Not knowing whether this one will make me sick or not. I was fortunate with the last lot that I had no nausea. Hopefully this time it will shrink the lesions and tumours.

Hi everyone I was diagnosed with Breast cancer 29th October 2010 and since then I have had surgery,(lumpectomey and axillary clearance) been diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer and now am 1/2 way through chemo. I have been very lucky with chemo side effects. The only real problem I have had so far is chemo had to be delayed once because of low white blood cell count. I am fortunately not working at the moment. My husband Jeff is incredibly supportive and I dont think I would have made it this far without him. I also have 2 adult children. Thanks Karen Miss muffet

In the four years I have been accommodating the diagnosis, treatment, recovery, recurrence, collateral damage, relationship changes, financial collapse and changed identity associated with cancer, I have thought a lot about the position I have given food in my life. I have some observations to make based on some wide reading and my own experience of cooking, sharing and eating food. So I have asked the question "Why is food so important?" because I want to give my answer. Fair enough? And the topic of 'food' always gets peoples' attention. Doesn't it?
