Hi Everyone!! Just wanted to let you all know... Josh has been pretty sick the past few weeks, hence the reason we have been absent from the site. Josh has had reactions to Carboplatin, and now, again, has no hair. He has had joint pain in his right arm and wrist, and has also had a fever of above 39 degrees (poor little guy)... The Carboplatin gives Josh large welts on his body, especially on his head. If he gets itchy, and scratches, a big white lump appears on his skin, it looks like a large mozzie bite.

this is the first time I have created a blog - not sure if I am doing it right. I have just been diagnosed with what I understand to be quite an agressive cancer & difficult to treat. I swing between not believing it & then sobbing with the helplessness I feel. My poor husband is devastated, I will tell my girls this weekend but will try not to tell them how bad it is. I will meet with a chemotherapist tomorrow, my husband & I will meet with our GP next week & I have arranged counselling for both of us next week.

Hi this is the first time I have ever written a blog however 2009 has brought a lot of "firsts" so far. My husband had a mole removed on Feb 15th by Feb 19th our whole world turned upside down when he got the call to say he had a 4mm deep melanoma. So began our journey! Andrew had a centinal node biopsy and one lymph node came back wwith melanoma (I didn't even know we had lymph nodes) he has since had all the tissue & 28 lymph nodes removed, CAT scan & PET scan - all with clear results.

A couple of updates this week. First, the Australian Government has introduced new legislation to review the Carer Payment (Child). The new legislation may allow more than 19,000 additional carers of children with disabilities and chronic illness to access the payment.

This is my first blog on this site. I was diagnosed with colon cancer last year in November. Since then I have had my operation to remove the tumour and am currently undergoing the Folfox 6 chemotherapy regime. I have just finished # 9 and have 3 left to go. I am so looking forward to completing chemo # 12.
