I have just got home from hospital after my gastroscopy this morning. I am very pleased with the results from this. It seems all the radiation and chemo are doing their job. I have a small ulcer left down in the stomach area and only a small pocket of what looks like a bit of cancer in the mid chest area. (He gave me photos) They have sent off samples for biopsy. So if the liver can be so kind as to follow suit, what a wonderful world it would be LOL..... The physician seemed pleased. Last time I woke up from my first Gastroscopy , the comment I got was, "its pretty nasty down there, do you want to travel to Melbourne or Adelaide." Have a good day Cheers Vicki

Isn't it good when the news received is the one you were hoping for? I have Lynch Syndrome (HNPCC) so have to have a colonscopy every year and endoscopy every second year. Had my latest colonscopy a few weeks back, always get anxious the week leading up to it. Maybe not so for the actual day but the prep day. Anyhow the news the doctor gave me "no sign of bowel cancer or any polyps, everything is clear".

hi vicki, great to hear good news!I have stage 4 oeasophogeal cancer wich was detected in my lymph node in my neck as well back around august....Lucky for me it didnt show up in my liver in the scans(wich is where i was told is the cancers next move)I finished radiation and chemo about 6 weeks ago and my swallowing has improved immensly and the lump in my neck has gone down so i assume thats a good sign...One doctor told me i can only have the aggressive radiation ONCE on my oeasophogeas but another told me i might be able to have it again?"How much is a new one and do you take eftpos"i asked...lol...I actually have a scan today and find out the results later in the week and to be honest I am nervous as anything...Is the treatment similiar if it has spread to my liver and how effective is it is my biggest unknown but i guess all i can do is go with the flow and take it one step at a time.......Peace!!!!

Thanks Daniel, You made me laugh out loud with the comment how much is a new one.. Love it. I went in to start my last (6th) cycle of chemo today , but my HB levels are really low and I need to have 2 units of blood tomorrow. so back in again and then thursday back again for my chemo. The upside is I have 2 days off chemo, so no 5FU bottle attached at the moment. I am coming off the steroids as well , been on too long I think. about 3 months on low dose. drop down to 0.5mg for the next week and then off altogether. and then just see how it goes. I think my legs are a smidgen better since I halved the dose last week, so here's looking forward to better days ahead. To Doug, christmas can be tough when we are very sick. Keep up with the piano and christmas carols. Cheers to all Vicki

Vicki just let Christmas happen. I know that i did when I was on chemo. Let someone else do the work and just try and relax. the good thing is you shouldn't have your wonderful fashion accessory of your 5-FU. The nurses at my clinic had a variety of colours and we would often laugh at matching the bag to our "ensembles". If you don't laugh, you go mad! Take it easy, glad the feet are a bit better. S

Hi Vicki, I was commenting to Julie that i am watching Oprah..shhh don't spread it around, they have a sound of music special and that inspired me to blow off the dust on the music book and play eidel weiss, my favourite piece, give the carols a rest. TC Dave
