hello, my partner has cancer and I find myself spending another afternoon having difficulty concentrating on mundane tasks, my mind continually drifts away.

Hi Justin, The shock of it all takes a while to get used to. Priorities and perspectives change. Its ok. (I think). Hope your journey is a relatively easy one. Cheers TM

Hi Justin I am living with multiple myeloma, which I had never heard of until I was diagnosed. I then had to start correcting people who said I had a melanoma. Is your wife a member of the Myeloma Foundation? There are state bodies around Australia, I believe. They have good networks and specialist nurses to talk to. The newsletter is also good, with up to date research progress reports. Velcade was the drug that got me into remission early last year. Happy to chat and listen. H

Hi Justin It is tough in the beginning. I have found focussing on finding out information has helped put some structure into my day. Hope things improve for you soon. Julie

Thank you for your feedback and support. I realise my wife is the one suffering more, emotionally and physically, but I haven't felt I could really discuss my own feelings to friends and relatives (so I broadcast it here to the world lol). I appreciate your comments. My wife is a member of the myeloma foundation and they have been very supportive to her. I am the same, I had never heard of myeloma before this came up. I think I had been ignorant to most forms of cancer, perhaps hoping they would never enter our lives. I am pleased to hear you are in remission Harker.

Hi Justin I can completely understand where you are coming from. My mum had lung cancer and i felt that i needed to be so strong for her as she was the one going through the physical angish.. However i too found it very hard to concentrate or even have another thought going through my head.. I wish you all the best for this journey and please take some time to be good to yourself.. It's hard, and you seem to never find the time, but i do believe for the longevity of the situation, your physical and mental well being is also of the upmost importance.. Take care You and your wife are in my thoughts... Donnai

thank you again for your support. I realise this is public but at the same time I feel a little better than I have by posting this. I know everyone deals with their own issues in their own way, and this forum helps me. I wish those suffering with their own illness and family trying to deal with this all the best.
